What to Expect

This is a newly created role as SQA will support the development of suppliers in China and ensure the quality of parts delivered consistently meet specification using AIAG standard tools and methods and in compliance with IATF16949. You will also have a close link to the Supplier Quality team in UK so that you are able to directly contribute to the development of our global sourcing strategies.

This pivotal role will operate in a hybrid capacity out of our partner office in Shanghai, China where you will report to the Supplier Quality Manager. There is a close link to the Procurement team in the UK so that you can directly contribute to the development of our global sourcing strategies.

What You'll Do

  • Work with Engineering development and Purchasing colleagues to develop and deploy Sourcing strategies
  • Work with Engineering and Purchasing colleagues to select and nominate capable suppliers
  • Work with Engineering and suppliers to refine product design (DFM) and define feasible manufacturing processes
  • Work with Engineering and suppliers to support APQP activities ensuring robust and on time completion of tasks
  • Work with Engineering development partner and suppliers to complete PPAP according to commodity timing plan
  • Ensure robust hand over of PPAP parts to Contract manufacturer and support for 90 days post SOP/Job1
  • Manage suppliers in series phase, ensuring they remain capable to produce according to PPAP and resolve any concerns or claims raised by Contract manufacturer robustly
  • Implementation of risk management strategies to mitigate supply chain disruptions and ensure business continuity
  • Support departmental objectives relating to the establishing of a new team, processes and performance management tools



What You'll Bring
  • Degree educated, preferably within a related discipline.
  • Previous experience within a Supplier Quality function required / management preferred
  • Strong experience in a complex manufacturing environment essential and OEM Automotive preferred
  • Experience in chassis, powertrain, electrical, interior, exterior or body structures
  • Must be experienced in IATF16949 requirements and AIAG standard methods
  • Demonstrable experience of working with Chinese and Western cultures.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and Mandarin, with a demonstrated ability to influence at Management level
  • Willing to undertake significant amount of business travel
  • Experienced using, training and coaching standard practical problem-solving tools
  • Previous experience launching multiple vehicles into production preferred
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, start-up environment where change is constant, and structures and systems are new and constantly evolving.
