Background

No restraints. No limitations. We don’t simply push boundaries. We completely rethink them. McLaren Automotive exists to create breath-taking performance road cars.

With innovation at the core of all we do, every challenge starts with the same question. How can we do it better? This restless spirit runs right through McLaren Automotive. And the search for perfection is evident in everything we do.

Purpose of Role

At McLaren, Product Quality Standards is a uniquely broad collaboration across Engineering, Design, Marketing and Manufacturing. We map the customer experience and anticipate the  psychological outcomes, which empowers us to advocate for the customer  and provide a unique input into product decisions.
We have an unusually broad scope, defined from research and a knowledge of consumer science, and we are involved on any component with which the customer interacts.
We are looking for a talented individual with an automotive background ideally to help us execute our vision for vehicles with a higher sense of worth.

As the Quality Zone Specialist, you will be responsible for leading the creations and updates of the Quality Standards applicable for the ongoing programmes. This will include defining the visual quality zoning that will drive the appropriate application of the quality standards. You will support the Perceived Quality Specialist and the DVA Engineer with relevant benchmark data that drives the achievement of targets, specifications, and designs of components to achieve the attribute goals on several future vehicle projects. The Quality Zone Specialist reports to the Perceived Quality Leader. You will not receive direct supervision and will be expected to manage your own tasks and workload.

  • Review and buy off the quality zones when applied to CAD ahead of engineering release.
  • Organise and coordinate specific benchmark events to support the programme quality deliverables and targets and deploy the feedback and results to the relevant stakeholders.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • You will need to be degree-qualified in a relevant Engineering discipline, Product Design or Consumer Science or have more than 5 years of relevant experience in a similar role. You should be able to demonstrate design (aesthetic) empathy through work experience or personal projects. You will require exceptionally good MS Office Skills Knowledge. CATIA CAD software or Alias/ICEMSurf CAS is a basic requirement. Your knowledge of the English language must be good (at least European C1 level).
