What to Expect

We are recruiting for a Visualisation Manager to join our fantastic Design department in Woking. As the Visualisation Manager you will be working within the McLaren Design Visualisation team to deliver Unreal Engine 5 and Autodesk VRED rendered material and Realtime datasets. You will work cross functionally to collate and manage inputs from the design studio, Marketing team and engineering while delivering imagery for Design decision making, visual feasibility, technical validation, press releases and social media material to name but a few deliverables. 

What You'll Do

  • Planning and managing the Visualisation teams requirements for programmes and headcount.
  • Liaising with Head of Digital Delivery budget planning for all visualisation deliverables.
  • Managing any offshore VIZ team resource with onsite VIZ team as one seamless delivery unit.
  • Initiating and running screen reviews for contentious, complex or ongoing visualisation issues raised by Design Studio or Engineering Attribute.
  • Preparing resource and project status overview, for weekly visualisation status Meeting. Report into Line Manager weekly updates to ensure clear delivery status and agreed targets are maintained.
  • Clear knowledge and understanding of the high-level surface timing plan including surface release schedule for all programmes and manage the support with visualisation content.
  • Managing input to the High-Level resource and planning discussions at G-1 to G4.
  • Full understanding of the VR process and relationship between function group activity in design and cross departmental.
  • Strong figurehead to provide technical advice and leadership for individual visualisation concerns both in creative and validation attributes.
  • Supporting VRED/UE5 designers to collate all inputs
  • Leading and implementing the development of interactive VR environments using Scripts and other coding software.
  • Leading, managing, motivating, and developing the current Visualisation team in line with the McLaren Culture, ensuring that team members fully understand their accountabilities and are motivated to achieve the defined departmental targets.
  • Owning the programme budgets for visualisation resource and miscellaneous expenditure.
What You'll Bring

  • Successful completion of a university-level course with specialisation in 3D games art
  • Extensive experience in creating videos and cinematics and show reels in UE5/VRED that lead to class leading engagement. Ideal candidate would be familiar in every aspect of the content creation pipeline with a focus on building photo-realistic materials and Blueprint scripting
  • Thorough understanding of photo-realistic lighting and rendering in UE5/VRED
  • Ability to setup VR projects with interaction and navigation controls in Unreal Engine 5 / VRED
  • Previous experience with data conversion - starting from basic CAD data through to completion
  • Must have working knowledge of UV mapping, modelling and texturing
  • Previous professional experience in the Computer Games industry, basic understanding of C++, C and other programming languages/scripting and a thorough understanding of game play logic
  • Excellent Graphics skills with a real attention to detail combined with well-developed conceptual thinking
  • Understanding of Configurator design and build with integration of VR/AR
  • Texture Painting Skills (photoshop, substance, Illustrator)
  • Understanding and knowledge in UI/UX design
  • Knowledge and relevant Automotive visualisation experience of 10+ years
