What to Expect

The VPC Technical Supervisor is responsible for all technical repair activities and campaign work at McLaren's Baltimore Vehicle Preparation Center. Reporting to the VPC General Manager, this role ensures that all technical issues are resolved efficiently and to McLaren's exacting standards, supervises two Technicians, and serves as the technical authority for the facility to maintain vehicle integrity and wholesale readiness.

What You'll Do
  • Manage all technical repair activities on vehicles at the VPC, ensuring timely resolution of mechanical, electrical, and software issues identified during inspection.
  • Supervise, train, and support two Technicians, providing technical guidance and ensuring their competency in repairing high-performance McLaren vehicles.
  • Plan and deliver any required technical campaign re-works, coordinating with factory counterparts to ensure compliance with technical bulletins and service actions.
  • Diagnose complex technical issues, determine appropriate repair strategies, and escalate to factory technical support when necessary.
  • Oversee management of software updates and vehicle system configurations to ensure all vehicles meet current specifications.
  • Maintain repair workflow prioritisation in coordination with the VPC Operations Supervisor to minimise impact on wholesale delivery schedules.
  • Ensure all technical repairs are documented accurately and submitted for warranty processing where applicable.
  • Manage technical parts inventory requirements, coordinating with the Warranty Administrator on parts orders and tracking.
  • Collaborate with the VPC Quality Supervisor to ensure repaired vehicles meet quality standards before release.
  • Develop and maintain technical procedures and work instructions specific to VPC operations.
  • Identify training needs and deliver technical training to Technicians to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Conduct performance reviews and provide regular feedback to direct reports, supporting their professional development.
  • Maintain awareness of technical service information, product updates, and best practices from McLaren's global technical community.
  • Ensure all technical work complies with health and safety requirements and McLaren's operational standards.

What You'll Bring
  • Extensive technical knowledge of high-performance vehicles, including mechanical, electrical, and software systems. 
  • Proven experience as an automotive technician with supervisory or lead technician experience in a dealership, preparation centre, or manufacturing environment. 
  • Strong diagnostic skills with ability to resolve complex technical issues efficiently. 
  • Experience with automotive software systems, diagnostic tools, and technical campaign implementation. 
  • Ability to read and interpret technical service information, wiring diagrams, and repair procedures. 
  • Proven ability to train and develop technical personnel. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and technical documentation systems. 
  • Valid driver's licence with ability to operate high-performance vehicles safely.
