Purpose of Role
This role involves the definition, development and validation of Vehicle Dynamics aspects related to stability controls systems and torque management controllers.
The role involves the simulation, modelling, testing, tuning and validation of ESP, TV, E-Diff and in house Traction Control systems for all the McLaren family.
The Engineer is responsible to liaise with the internal stakeholders, such as ES&C and ADAS as well as the suppliers. Budget control remains within ES&C.
Principal Accountabilities

  • Define and manage roadmaps for specific Dynamics systems together with Senior Vehicle Dynamics engineer
  • Defining and managing Attribute plan with vehicle development to ensure targets are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Define and lead all tuning activities related to the above-mentioned systems.
  • Ensure vehicle characteristics, hardware and software are always suitable and representative during the development phase. Collaborate with Vehicle Development team on required vehicle updates.
  • Define and carry out vehicle testing plan to tune/calibrate dynamic systems on the vehicle
  • Understand and resolve issues that arise during development process
  • Tracking and reporting on vehicle project status
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Excellent knowledge of vehicle dynamics
  • Excellent knowledge of ESP and TC systems
  • Desirable knowledge on E-Diff, TV and AWD systems
  • Good driving skills for high performance vehicle
  • Competent user of Matlab and Simulink
  • Good knowledge of data logging and calibration systems
  • Good knowledge of objective maneuvers driving and subjective vehicle evaluation
  • Motorsport driving experience is a very good plus
  • Model based controls application/development is a very good plus
