Purpose of Role

To join the McLaren Automotive Safety Electronics team to deliver of all vehicle safety systems for all McLaren vehicle platforms. Responsible for planning from the concept phase through to program launch for all Safety Electronics systems, including ADAS (advanced driver assistance systems) and Occupant Restraints.

Agree and deliver program targets, support supplier commercial engagement and program delivery through the project. Working as the part of a small team reporting to the Vehicle Electronics Head of Department you will be required to lead all critical program activities and be the main contact to engage with the architecture team and project management to define and agree the Safety Electronics topology for all McLaren vehicle platforms.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Experience and knowledge of ADAS functionality, safety systems and associated legal requirements.
  • Design & Integration of Automotive electrical systems.
  • Experience Test and integration of vehicle Electronics systems.
  • Generation and approval of detailed specifications.
  • Component standardisation.
  • Lab car and mule development and POC activities.
  • Understanding of Crash testing and FEA simulation.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  •  Team leadership within the automotive industry or similar domain. Experience managing teams.
  • Electronics architecture experience (harness, CAN/LIN protocols, ECUs, sensors) in automotive.
  • Body/Chassis and Software/Hardware experience for automotive applications.
  • Experience of the Supplier Management process.
  • Proven track record of system/component design and delivery within automotive/aerospace/engineering.
  • PC literate and at ease with MS Office products
  • SAP design tools (preferred)
  • Knowledge of Modern Vehicle operating systems (Preferred Safety Electronics)
  • Principal level experience within a Vehicle Electronics design environment. (Preferred Safety Electronics)
