Purpose of Role

  • Support R&D development program through Design of Experiments and Test plan
  • Analyse and Evaluate products to detect process improvements and material validation
  • Support the development of advanced processing technology for carbon composites components
  • Generate practical solutions to engineering and production challenges, using initiative and coordination of relevant technical experts
  • Provide feedback on progress of activities to the principal and senior engineer in a project reporting structure
  • The scope of the role covers all projects from R&D stage to implementation and series production
Principal Accountabilities
  • Produce R&D composites components or samples as required for the purpose of the development programme utilising the available facilities and equipment
  • Running POC equipment to DOE and ensure data capture to mature specification for Production intent Equipment
  • Documenting process and materials for creation of old and new products, including quality control
  • Designing, performing and summarising experiments
  • Scheduling and prioritizing assigned project activities
  • Provide DFM (Design for Manufacturing) input to the Design and Engineering teams to make sure the design is optimised in line with the manufacturing processes being developed
  • Provide a proactive contribution to innovation and problem solving
  • Ensure the work area is clean, tidy and orderly at all times in line with brand expectations and maintain a safe working environment for yourself and others
  • Lead Practical Problem-Solving activities (PPS) to address Quality Concern Reports (QCR) within an appropriate time frame and sustain continuous improvement activities
  • Support production where required as a technical leader for the processes managed by the moulding team




Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A previous background in composites or engineering is essential
  • Knowledge of Carbon dry material would be preferable
  • Knowledge of AFP, Forming, RTM processes would be valuable
  • Knowledge of CFRP component manufacturing processes would be valuable
  • Extensive practical experience in prepreg manufacture is essential
  • Knowledge of any CAD software would be valuable
  • Experience with process equipment would be valuable
  • Good practical and hands on technical skills are required
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities
  • Awareness of appropriate health and safety standards for an industrial environment
  • PC literate, with capability in excel data processing
