Purpose of Role

To actively support the specification, design, engineering & delivery of vehicle control systems including Battery Management Systems (BMS) within the Hybrid and EV Systems. Interactions with Powertrain CAE team, Functional Safety (ISO 26262), CyberSecurity and Vehicle Development are also part of the role.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Generate system requirements for BMS
  • System requirements verification and base calibration via MiL and SiL simulation
  • BMS issues root cause analysis
  • BMS system integration into the Energe Storage Systems and the vehicle
  • BMS supplier management
  • On-vehicle data retrieval and analysis
  • Supporting BMS delivery to all vehicle projects– to specification, on time and on budget.
  • Working with the Functional Safety experts to deliver ISO 26262 requirements
  • Working with the Cyber Security experts to deliver Cyber Security requirements
  • Working with the Powertrain CAE group to develop Model-in-the-Loop systems and support requirement verification.
  • Supporting external and internal project status reviews
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Controls, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree, MSc or PhD
  • 2-3 years industry experience
  • Proficiency in Control Systems Engineering, Simulation modelling in MATLAB/Simulink
  • Technical knowledge of BMS hardware and software
  • Technical knowledge of Energy Storage Systems and lithium ion battery desirable
  • Embedded systems knowledge
  • HiL (Hardware in the Loop) and Rig systems testing awareness desirable.
