What to Expect
The Senior Project Engineer – Cockpit Electronics is responsible for the end-to-end delivery, integration and release of cockpit electrical modules and customer-facing electronic and mechatronics systems across vehicle programmes. Acting as the Design Release Engineer (DRE), the role owns component definition, supplier management, technical delivery and engineering maturity from concept through production release. The position works closely with Design, Studio Engineering, Vehicle Integration, Purchasing and suppliers to ensure customer-facing systems deliver exceptional craftsmanship, premium quality, A-Surface integration and world-class user experience in line with McLaren brand expectations.
What You'll Do
• Own the design release and delivery of assigned cockpit electronic modules and mechatronic components across vehicle programmes.
• Lead components through the McLaren Product Development Process and New Product Introduction (NPI) framework, ensuring all programme milestones, deliverables and gateway requirements are achieved.
• Act as the primary engineering interface between McLaren and suppliers, driving technical delivery, issue resolution and component maturity.
• Define and manage component requirements, specifications, validation plans and release documentation.
• Ensure successful integration of components within the cockpit environment, meeting vehicle architecture, packaging, quality and customer experience requirements.
• Work closely with Design, Studio Engineering and Vehicle Integration teams to deliver premium A-Surface integration, craftsmanship and perceived quality standards.
• Manage supplier development activities, design reviews and engineering changes to ensure delivery against programme timing and targets.
• Lead component validation and sign-off activities, including functional, environmental, EMC and vehicle-level testing.
• Support prototype builds, development vehicles, production validation activities and launch events.
• Monitor programme timing, risks, issues and component maturity, implementing recovery plans where required.
• Ensure components are delivered to agreed quality, cost, weight and performance targets.
• Drive continuous improvement, lessons learned and effective cross-functional collaboration across vehicle programmes.

What You'll Bring
• Degree qualified in Electrical, Electronic, Automotive Engineering or equivalent discipline.
• Proven experience as a Design Release Engineer, Module Engineer or Component Engineer within an automotive environment.
• Strong understanding of cockpit systems, interior electronics and customer-facing vehicle technologies.
• Experience managing Tier 1 suppliers and delivering components through full vehicle development cycles.
• Experience delivering components through automotive New Product Introduction (NPI) programmes and gateway-based development processes.
• Good understanding of vehicle electrical architectures, CAN, LIN and Ethernet communication networks.
• Appreciation of interior craftsmanship, customer touchpoints, perceived quality and A-Surface integration principles.
• Strong understanding of automotive product development gateways and engineering governance.
• Knowledge of component specification, DFMEA, DVP&R, EMC and reliability test methodologies. 
• Ability to analyse technical data, engineering drawings and system specifications
