The NVH Senior Attribute Engineer owns the customer experience of balance refinements and engagement to meet the Product, cost and timing requirements, and the related technologies and engineering methods. Working with the Vehicle NVH Lead and the relevant Function Groups you will lead the activities for positioning and engineering the product for NVH, ensure that the attribute targets cascade to a component level, that the design of components, systems and whole vehicle is suitable for delivering such targets, and pro-actively identify with the function groups and other attributes where there are gaps/conflicts. Lead the resolution of these, involving the Chief Engineer, VLD and Head of Attributes and Performance as required.
Owning the technical expertise on powertrain, chassis, body and trim noise and vibration performance, you will work with key stakeholders in advance of a vehicle or a specific advanced engineering project, focussing on robust physical principle and design for NVH know-how, and the specific NVH aspects along the MDP process, for effective delivery.

What You'll Do
  • Technical Excellence: Demonstrate a high level of technical proficiency in the application of NVH engineering principles at all stages of the project, with state of the art knowledge acquired in the field of at least one attribute, and related engineering discipline area (powertrain dynamics, chassis and structural dynamics, aeroacoustics, sound quality)
  • Roadmap. Lead the creation and application of the NVH roadmap for own attribute, combining the inputs of all stakeholders. Identify and demonstrate new systems as part of the pre-programme Horizon phase with Advanced Engineering. Lead the shaping of the vehicle concept such that it supports own attribute targets, for each given a product positioning in the McLaren line up and vs competitors. Ensure that the wider NVH team are represented effectively with clear communication and appropriate participation.
  • Integration. Lead and support Function Groups, Product, key Attributes and Project Teams in finding solutions that enhance the performance attribute and its delivery. Early identify technical challenges, propose suitable attack plans, and actively participate in the development and evolution of ongoing projects.
  • Technical task governance: plays an influential role in communicating and ensuring technical tasks are efficiently aligned and delivered. Ensure that the project team understand the key trade-offs that they can influence, and proactively support effective decision making.
  • Concern Resolution and Concept Alignment: Lead the diagnosis and resolution of complex NVH technical concerns, working with the key stakeholders to deliver a stable and robust solution considering programme timing and cost.
  • Methodology. Work collaboratively and lead, when pertinent, activities with Advanced Engineering, Driveability, Vehicle Dynamics, Vehicle Development and other stakeholders to develop and deploy new tools and techniques to give early confidence in the customer experience of new vehicles. This could include improvements in simulation and simulator to enable jury panel assessment to confirm/adjust the positioning of a vehicle prior to high spec mule running.
  • Knowledge Development and Transfer: Develop both you and the wider team by sharing technical insights and best practices, increase expertise by attaining to a variety of sources (literature, academic, SAE etc.) and contributing to a culture of excellence, continuous learning and improvement.
  • Quality Assurance: Contribute to the rigorous testing and quality assurance processes to ensure that technical changes meet performance and reliability standards.

What You'll Bring
  • Collaborative and energic Team Player: A team-oriented mindset and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and project teams. Build relationships with those around you so that there is a “One Team” approach.
  • Live the McLaren values of Cohesion, Realism, Excellence, Accountability, Trust, Effectiveness and Diligence.
  • Technical Expertise: Profound technical knowledge of NVH and familiarity with advanced test data analysis, accessible AI tools, pertinent CAE technology and overall noise and vibration physical principles, with a strong ability to apply them along the vehicle development work. Experience of full vehicle or advanced research program delivery on at least one specific NVH attribute is desirable
  • Detail-oriented: Exceptional attention to detail in technical work, with a commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards.
  • Committed learner: Evidence of qualifications in their area of expertise, willing and able to experiment, learn and improve.
  • Fearless engineering attitude: Being capable to assert oneself in articulated context and focus the team towards the technically relevant direction, early identifying gaps and risks, and proposing suitable activities leveraging the one self and wider team knowledge is a must.
  • Effective Communication: Strong communication skills, enabling clear and concise technical explanations and delegation to team members and stakeholders.
  • Adaptability: The ability to adapt to changing project requirements and contribute to the ongoing success of existing systems. Working across multiple site in UK and Europe (Idiada, primarily) with a moderate amount of travelling required to be seen as an opportunity and not a burden.
  • Practical Problem Solving: Experience of structured practical problem solving and development.
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering a minimum. Higher qualifications an advantage
