What to Expect

      As Senior Manufacturing Engineer you will lead a team of Manufacturing Engineers to ensure robust implementation and continuous improvement of the McLaren Composite Technology Centre (MCTC) manufacturing processes.


What You'll Do

In this capacity your role and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
·       Lead the implementation of production intent manufacturing processes
·       Lead the improvement of the manufacturing processes to reduce cycle time, scrap and product repairs while increasing equipment availability
·       Record, process, analyse and interpret complex process data to improve process knowledge and drive technical development
·       Lead Practical Problem Solving activities (PPS) to address quality issues within an appropriate time frame
·       Evaluate and control spend within the limits of the role and manage against budget
·       Responsible for the preparation and presentation of business cases for production improvement projects
·       Ensure production process flows, PFMEA’s and control plans are maintained
·       Give valuable input to the design team during the design for manufacture process
·       Lead engineering changes for parts already introduced into production
·       Be MCTC Engineering’s first point of contact for the Production and Maintenance teams
·       Present the status of Manufacturing Engineering projects and KPI’s to key stakeholders across the business
·       Work with direct reports to create personnel development plans to support in career development


What You'll Bring

Knowledge skills and experience

  • Previous proven industry experience ideally within an automotive manufacturing environment
  • Previous proven experience of introducing industrialised manufacturing processes
  • Use of problem solving methodology like 8D, PPS or equivalent
  • Experience of leading manufacturing process improvement projects following a methodical approach (eg. DMAIC or equivalent)
  • Experience with managing spend to stick to a forecasted budget
  • Ability to work with and manipulate large data
  • Ability to setup relevant and accurate data collection methods and records
  • Experience of leading PFMEA reviews and updating control plans would be beneficial
  • Effective presenting skills, making complex issues clear and transparent
  • Experience of the following would be advantageous but is not essential:
    • Composites manufacturing processes
    • High-Pressure RTM
    • CNC machining
    • Robotics
  • Experience with using a structured change management system
  • Ideally, educated to Degree level in suitable Engineering discipline
