Our Manufacturing Engineering team are growing to support our business plan. New Models mean more opportunity to develop and create processes and standardisation around how we perfect each and every model we build.
As one of our Senior Manufacturing Engineers you will lead the development and execution of all Manufacturing Engineering practices driving improvement in Project Management, Safety, Quality, Cost Management, People Development, and Product Delivery.
You will have the opportunity to work with expert teams across the business as well as within your own functional area to deliver all program aspects from inception into Series production.
You will assist the Manufacturing Engineering Manager in scoping, specifying, and delivering best operational practices in alignment with brand expectations; and lead the Future Model team with the development of departmental budgets as contributor to overall program business cases.
Achieving all project gateway milestones is key to the successful delivery of all new products so you will be the department lead in the delivery of all program objectives to ensure this happens.
This includes the development and execution of the following deliverables for each new model introduction:
Vehicle assembly concept
Starting it the virtual environment and transitioning to physical validation & delivery
Program timing
Generation and development of timing plans that support full program delivery activities, including tooling & equipment
Process sequencing, documentation, and product traceability methodologies
To be developed in line with existing Series products & future strategies brand evolution
PFMEA
To support and drive the implementation of best practices to improve RFT delivery
Hours per Car generation & reporting
Ownership and maintenance of the Hours Per Car (HPC) data for new model introductions, ensuring plant efficiency and output targets can be achieved.
Working with engineering and operation teams to identify and resolve production bottlenecks
Line balancing
Including running time & motion studies across the plant
Facility layout & utilisation
Collaborating with Engineering & Operations teams in leading the design of new / amendments to existing layouts and material flow to ensure new models align with the overall plan and vision for the facility
Support and influence the following cross functional business activities to achieve the Project deliverables such as:
Concept / Design Reviews
Engineering release delivery
DFMEA
· A degree in mechanical / automotive engineering or similar or equivalent experience in a similar role
· Ideally you will have experience with:
· Leading the planning and execution of new vehicle programs
· complex vehicle systems
· vehicle assembly processes
· trim and final processes
· end of line vehicle processing / finishing
· specification and procurement of assembly equipment
· identifying resolutions for product related issues, ensuring all quality targets are achieved
· implementation of safe working practices

You will need to travel to off-site development facilities, within the UK and throughout Europe, therefore a flexible approach to travel is required
You will have the determination to drive forward the business to ‘Best in Class’ performance standards in line with brand expectations and be a lateral thinker able to think outside of the box to make structured and objective decisions
You will lead your team’s career development and training objectives using our departmental skills matrix and company’s learning and development training opportunities, and ensure that skill gaps within the department are recognised and addressed.
