Our Manufacturing Engineering team are growing to support our business plan. New Models mean more opportunity to develop and create processes and standardisation around how we perfect each and every model we build.
As one of our Senior Manufacturing Engineers you will lead the development and execution of all Manufacturing Engineering practices driving improvement in Project Management, Safety, Quality, Cost Management, People Development, and Product Delivery.
You will have the opportunity to work with expert teams across the business as well as within your own functional area to deliver all program aspects from inception into Series production.
You will assist the Manufacturing Engineering Manager in scoping, specifying, and delivering best operational practices in alignment with brand expectations; and lead the Future Model team with the development of departmental budgets as contributor to overall program business cases.
Achieving all project gateway milestones is key to the successful delivery of all new products so you will be the department lead in the delivery of all program objectives to ensure this happens.
This includes the development and execution of the following deliverables for each new model introduction:
Vehicle assembly concept
- Starting it the virtual environment and transitioning to physical validation & delivery
- Lead the BA ME team during the design and implementation of all future projects, through the body assembly manufacturing processes & equipment to grow production capacity in line with corporate goals and product delivery.
- Translate different KPI´s and requirements from stakeholder into project scope and define and delegate responsibilities.
- Generation and development of timing plans that support full program delivery activities, including tooling & equipment
- Own and manage overall BA ME projects schedule, including executive communication and risk identification & mitigation for full scope of design for manufacturing, ensure achievement of safety, quality, cost, timing & throughput targets on all projects.
- Provide regular, metric-based project updates to the management team.
- To be developed in line with existing Series products & future strategies brand evolution
- Define and support the assembly process flow, build sequence, logistics strategies, equipment, and tooling specifications for BA process
- To support and drive the implementation of best practices to improve RFT delivery
- Hours per Car generation & reporting
- Ownership and maintenance of the Hours Per Car (HPC) data for new model introductions, ensuring plant efficiency and output targets can be achieved.
- Working with engineering and operation teams to identify and resolve production bottlenecks
- Including running time & motion studies across the plant
- Collaborating with Engineering & Operations teams in leading the design of new / amendments to existing layouts and material flow to ensure new models align with the overall plan and vision for the facility
- Partner with Operations teams to ensure a successful ramp and long-term production at our facilities
Support and influence the following cross functional business activities to achieve the Project deliverables such as:
- Concept / Design Reviews
- Engineering release delivery
- DFMEA
- A degree in mechanical / automotive engineering or similar (2:1 or above) or equivalent experience in a similar role
Ideally you will have experience with:
- Leading the planning and execution of new vehicle programs
- complex vehicle systems
- vehicle assembly processes
- trim and final processes
- end of line vehicle processing / finishing
- specification and procurement of assembly equipment
- identifying resolutions for product related issues, ensuring all quality targets are achieved
- implementation of safe working practices
- The ability to lead and encourage by displaying a positive attitude and practice strong work ethics that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of McLaren.
- As one of our Senior team you will naturally have an understanding and appreciation for low volume, high value performance vehicle production and brand requirements.
- We work in a fast-paced environment so the ability to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought and decisive authority is crucial. Change is a natural part of our business and candidates must be agile to plans and procedures changing.
- You will need to travel to off-site development facilities, within the UK and throughout Europe, therefore a flexible approach to travel is required
