What to Expect

As Senior Homologation Engineer, reporting directly to the Head of Homologation, you are required to complete the necessary activities and documentation to achieve vehicle certification, for all required international markets, of the business’ major projects. Additionally, you will ensure that McLaren Automotive’s products comply with the latest regulatory requirements throughout their lifecycle, by monitoring key legislative changes. You will be required to have a good understanding of complex and cross-functional systems, and the regulatory requirements that they are subject to. You will need to work with many different internal departments, as well as liaising with external agencies and government bodies to ensure only compliant products are put on the marketplace. You will work with a team of homologation engineers to support the development of new concepts and technologies, achieve the certification of McLaren Automotive’s products within budget and timing constraints, and support the Quality department for activities related to conformity of production.

What You'll Do
  • ·        Undertake type approval and certification activities of major vehicle projects, for all required markets internationally

    ·        Create and maintain the timing plan of certification activities on assigned projects

    ·        Plan and monitor certification spending on assigned projects to ensure they are delivered to budget

    ·        Support the team of homologation engineers through the development of all projects, and work together to deliver global certification of all of McLaren products

    ·        Support project delivery as a key member of the engineering team, by maintaining close working relationships with project coordination, design engineers, attribute teams and development engineers

    ·        Work closely with the Principal Certification Engineer for Testing, to ensure that all certification test requirements are realised

    ·        Travel, both within the UK and abroad, for vehicle and component testing when necessary

    ·        Monitor emerging regulatory requirements affecting current and future models

    ·        Provide interpretations of legislation, and support development of innovative solutions in the design of new products

    ·        Participate in industry forums where regulatory requirements are discussed

    ·        Plan, monitor and expedite tests, documentation and certification processes

    ·        Support the Quality department and regional teams with launch and series development activities


What You'll Bring

·        Degree in engineering or equivalent technical qualification (mechanical or automotive engineering preferred)

·        Substantial experience of vehicle certification activities in global markets, particularly UK, EU, USA, and China

·        Existing knowledge of regulatory frameworks affecting vehicle design, and experience navigating regulatory text to identify and interpret requirements

·        Project management experience, handling timing plans and budgets
