Purpose of Role

  • Finance Business Partner to McLaren’s Product Development Engineering team.
  • Lead Business Partner for Major New Programme Development
  • Support financial reporting (weekly, monthly and Gateway reporting) for specific programmes (major new vehicle programme)
  • Report on performance management of capital spending and Bill of Material cost control, plus overall business case analysis for each programme
  • Lead purchase requisition control and approval for each specific approval with presentation for approval as required
  • Support development of process improvements to optimise financial analysis across current year, business plan period and lifetime of the programmes
Principal Accountabilities

  • Business partner the Programme Manager and Functional Engineering teams for one major and one minor new vehicle programmes across McLaren product development
  • Lead financial reporting (weekly, monthly and Gateway reporting) for both programmes (platform and major new vehicle programme)
  • Lead programme commercial reviews (weekly) and monthly operating reviews with programme and senior management providing a holistic and detailed review of known change control and future risks and opportunities
  • Budget and forecast responsibilities for both programmes, ensuring all budgets and forecasts are met, and robust financial control is in place across multiple working channels,
  • Responsible for SAP purchase requisition approval aligned with corporate governance and delegated authorities
  • Be the conduit that feeds back what is happening in on the specific programmes to the Senior Finance Manager and Finance Director for Product Development product development,
  • Support the finance team for cross-programme processes and actions (e.g. monthly actuals reporting, headcount and cross programme reporting)
  • Coach and train junior team members and ensure effective delivery against assignments and support personnel development across the team
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) or 1 final exam to go
  • Advance excel skills and ability to deal with large volumes of complex data is essential.
  • Experience working with SAP or another ERP system for purchase requisitions, orders and accounting transactions
  • Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills, along with adherence to deadlines.
  • Experience working within low volume automotive / manufacturing companies desirable.
