Purpose of Role

  • Finance Business Partner to McLaren’s Bill of Material Management team.
  • Support implementation of Total Value Management (TVM) methodology and mindset across the business, focussed on post production launch.
  • Support wider Bill of Material (BoM) reporting by causal factor.
  • Support development of average BoM reporting by programme.
Principal Accountabilities

  • In conjunction with the TVM team, support development and lead reporting against key TVM KPIs and performance
  • Reporting and support of resource approval required to deliver TVM target to reduce cost year over year from 2021 – 2025
  • Business case preparation – provide support and financial analysis of TVM activities including
      • Business Case preparation;
      • Break even analysis;
      • Presentation to engineering and purchasing leadership.
      • Work with the wider business to identify new opportunities through data analysis and vehicle cost review
      • Purchasing – review ongoing costs / identifying key suppliers to target
      • Logistic teams – supply chain optimism
      • Engineering – design change & Value Analysis & Value Engineering
      • Cost Engineering – optimal cost estimating support
      • Sales and Marketing – options uptakes / pricing
  • Work with the product development pre-production team to ensure clarity of TVM flow through for carry-over parts from production into new vehicle production
  • Submission of annual budget for TVM & monthly forecasting
  • Support development of total BoM reporting (actuals, forecast & plan by causal factor: design, regulatory, TVM, supplier claims and material & labour economics)
  • Monthly Bill of Material KPI reporting to executive leadership
  • Ad Hoc – Value for Money studies, data analysis, reviewing large sets of financial data.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA) desirable. 
  • Advance excel skills and ability to deal with large volumes of complex data is essential.
Personal Attributes

  • Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills, along with adherence to deadlines.
  • Experience working within low volume automotive / manufacturing companies desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication, networking, collaboration, and interpersonal skills - ability to build relationships of trust with a wide range of individuals.
  • Proactive approach to working practices.
  • Ability to work with diverse workforce and in challenging conditions.
