Purpose of Role

This is both an accounting and business partnering role, reporting to the Senior Finance Manager (SFM) for Corporate Functions. The role will support the achievement of business plan targets for all Corporate Functions which include: Quality, Legal & Commercial, Purchasing & SQA, HR, IT as well as managing our key Group recharges.

Complete understanding and control of the business unit numbers; including actuals, forecasts and budgets will be a key part of the role, as well as ensuring the financial targets for the relevant business units are met, through collaboration with the key business partners, financial analysis and application of financial controls.

Cross team working will be a key part of the role and you will also gain knowledge and experience from the other areas of the Finance function, including our Central, Engineering, Operations and Sales & Marketing finance teams.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Financial business partner to Corporate Functions with the aim of being the first point of contact
  • Management and delivery of any ad hoc financial analysis and reporting as required
  • Create an environment of financial integration across the whole finance team
  • Work closely with the SFM for Corporate Functions
  • Support the SFM in managing the financial performance for Corporate Functions
  • Understand key business unit KPl’s and find opportunities to drive costs down, reduce working capital and manage cash
  • Understand, interpret and help manage business unit financial budget, forecast and actual data
  • Be responsible for the delivery of all financial reporting to the business units, including monthly performance reports and headcount analysis
  • Responsibility for updating the monthly and YTD actuals
  • Deliver financial data and information including budgets, forecasts and actuals, in partnership with Financial Control team.
  • Manage the financial performance, holding budget owners in your business units to account and analysing actual results against the approved business plan
  • Make proposals with recommendations which achieve business goals whilst also managing cost and working capital
  • Proactively identify risks to the business units and generate opportunities, which can then be translated by the business units into key strategic initiatives. Assist the business units to successfully implement any risk mitigation or opportunity realisation
  • Support the development of tools to help improve the forecasting and budgeting process

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Qualified ACCA, ACA or CIMA post qualified or newly qualified
  • Prior experience in the Automotive, Manufacturing or Engineering sector is beneficial but essential
  • A proven history of delivering great reporting and analysis
Personal Attributes
  • Excellent communication and business partnering skills with the ability to communicate at all levels and articulate financial data and analytical information to non-finance
  • Can translate financial information into meaningful data and intelligence that the business can use to enhance their performance.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills
  • Sound financial & commercial knowledge and acumen.
