Purpose of Role

As Senior Finance Analyst (SFA) - Cash, you will play a pivotal role and find yourself in one of the most exciting SFA positions within McLaren Automotive. This role will offer you exposure to the whole business from a finance perspective, spanning the full cash flow, from short term tactical activities to longer term business planning. The successful candidate in this role will be a qualified accountant with 1 year of strong post qualification experience. He or she will have a natural aptitude for commercial finance, a curiosity and an attention to detail that fosters a strong analytical competence, and a drive for personal and professional development. This role will require a forward-thinking analytical mindset, exceptional financial modelling capabilities (comfortable working in and developing complicated data models) and a constant pursuit of continuous improvement.

In this role you will work collaboratively with several key functional and cross-functional stakeholders from analyst level to executive director level across the following key activities:

  • Cash and working capital management
  • Cash flow forecasting
  • Scenario analysis / decision support
  • Financial modelling and financial data model tool maintenance & development
Principal Accountabilities
  • Cash forecasting and working capital finance management. Support the cash team to ensure a cash flow forecast that is always reflective of the latest short-term and long-term scenario plans, by ensuring the business planning process integrates seamlessly with the cash management processes. Provide analytical insights and plans that underpin efficient and effective working capital finance management. This would require a strong understanding of the McLaren Automotive working capital finance facilities and the respective principles applied in using them.
  • Cash flow forecasting. Playing an active role in the McLaren Automotive cash flow forecasting activities with a particular focus on deriving the cash flow from the P&L and balance sheet, YTD actualisation and YTG reforecasting. Preparation of analysis packs that clearly present the key assumptions and cash flow variance drivers to the team and senior management.
  • Business Partnering. This role will involve a lot of cross-functional collaboration underpinned by strong cross-functional working relationships. It is important that financial information is clearly presented to facilitate effective teamwork with both financial and non-financial partners
  • Continuous improvement. Continually review and improve the tools and business processes that the business relies on for dynamic and prompt decision support.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Strong finance, economics or STEM degree qualification (preferred)
  • CIMA, ACA or ACCA fully qualified, minimum 1 year post qualification experience
  • Cash forecasting and analytics experience with a strong understanding of the difference between cash and accrual accounting
  • Working knowledge of tier 1 ERP systems such as Oracle or SAP
  • Track record of developing and maintaining strong relationships with all levels within the business
  • Advanced excel and financial modelling skills, comfortable working with large datasets and complex information coming from multiple sources (essential)
  • Experience with Power Query and M Code, whilst not essential coming in, will be critical in successfully managing and continually improving the FP&A & Cash management tools and processes. Therefore, any experience with database management systems such as SQL server and knowledge of Database Normalisation would be beneficial
  • Demonstrable business process design competence
