Purpose of Role
  • Technical and delivery responsibility for all aspects of chassis design across all vehicle programmes
  • Define and implement engineering standards to maximise development efficiency and product quality
  • Work closely with Chassis Systems and BIW teams to integrate designs and deliver vehicle targets
Principal Accountabilities
  • Be responsible for the lifecycle of all Chassis based systems on all McLaren Vehicles

×         Deliver technology road maps and target setting

×         Define component road maps to support vehicle targets

×         Deliver all project for the chassis systems

×         Define and complete validation of systems

  • Be responsible for developing and managing a team structure to deliver these systems
  • Be responsible for developing and managing method and process for chassis design target setting, development and sigh off
  • Develop key supplier relationships to support delivery of chassis systems
  • Leadership, planning, monitoring and control of group activities to guarantee project delivery in line with MDP (McLaren Development Process)
  • Establish and control system and component, design, release, development and validation plans in line with technical risk management processes
  • Establish and control supply chain in association with function group buyers to ensure delivery of components and systems on schedule for all phases of prototype, pilot, pre-production and production build
  • Ensure manufacturability and compliance with quality standards of all components and systems within the defined BOM through interface with manufacturing site and suppliers
  • Manage the opening and closure of engineering concerns
  • Control DFM and FMEA as required
  • Problem and quality resolutions
  • Preparation and presentation of material to support external and internal project status reviews
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Automotive OEM experience covering all areas of chassis design, systems and development
  • ·        Leader of high performance cross functional teams
  • ·        Extensive experience of component and system drawing approval and release
  • ·        An ability to mentor staff in the use of GD&T
  • ·        Excellent systems design and development knowledge
  • ·        Experience in component release management and problem solving
  • ·        Experience of high and niche vehicle (low volume) programs
  • ·        Good knowledge about vehicle proving grounds and facilities in Europe
  • ·        An ability to deliver under pressure with an appetite for measured success
