To ensure McLaren Automotive continues its desire to be “the sportscar company”, we are looking for an Senior SQA Engineer to join the Supplier Quality Assurance team. 


Purpose of Role

Leading a small audit team responsible for all series and new model vehicle programs, representing the voice of the customer within the McLaren Automotive Operations team. This role will have full responsibility for McLaren Product audit and all early life warranty (up to 3MIS).

Principal Accountabilities

·         To champion the attainment of Customer Quality business imperatives

·         Responsible for overall delivered quality of the vehicle; with a particular focus on warranty (up to 3MIS). The aim is to review all early life warranty claims and action all claims that are / could be plant detectable with appropriate CCAR / QCR coverage.

·         Review all PDI to 0-3MIS Warranty claims received from the global dealer network and ensure data is managed/categorised correctly. Coordinate stakeholders to conduct internal investigations, ensure immediate containment, and identify opportunities for product improvement either in process, material, or design.

·         Build consensus around customer issues controllable by the plant and ensure that issues have correct audit and inspection protocols through to PDI (MPA, Chipping Warden etc.)

·         Lead reviews for key Customer Quality concerns with Engineering, Operations and Quality teams ensuring top trending items for each area are being reviewed and contained.

·         Organise and steer meetings and working groups between all the parties involved in the quality process to mitigate and to clearly define next steps for dealing with high risk / cost issues.

·         To collate business feedback of all early life customer quality concerns and present to exec level weekly.

·         Look at ways of continuously improving the field quality processes with a focus on: Reviewing of robustness of containments based on warranty data, rolling back of QCR’s and new model support (ensuring warranty data is fed into new model gateways).

·         Ensure that standard MPA audit is representative of PDI and 0-3MIS faults (and there is consistent alignment) and that issues are being channelled through the correct gateways in plant.

·         Manage MPA manpower to ensure a comprehensive cross plant audit program (static, section audit, dynamic & full vehicle)

·         Ensure feedback from section / gateway audits are captured and communicated to gateway owners.

·         To continually monitor and review existing operational containments remain effective and promote development to full countermeasure

·         To work with future engineering project teams to ensure ‘lessons learnt’ are carried forward to future McLaren vehicle launches ahead of key gateways.

·         Represent MPA department at daily allocation meeting and oversee the quality of QN’s to allow for efficient allocation and subsequent containment.

·         Ensure MPA team is working within McLaren Automotive Health and Safety policy’ at all times.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

·         Degree in Engineering and/ Or previous experience working in Quality Engineering, Aftersales or Warranty in an Automotive OEM.

·         Previous experience in people management.

·         Comfortable presenting to executive level.

·         McLaren product knowledge would be a distinct advantage
