Purpose of Role

To manage quality, cost, function and timing of the Durability attribute through development of high-performance road car projects.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Coordinate the definition of the durability targets (Reference Duty Cycle) for each project.
  • Collaborating with the Subject Matter Expert team to ensure the project Risk Assessment Analysis is generated on time, in order to define Critical Components and risk reduction action plans.
  • Management of the Component Load Spectra Target Definition Plan for each project, in accordance with the Project Risk Assessment action plan.
  • Definition of the vehicle level Durability DVP.
  • Monitoring and reporting the status of the integrated Durability Validation Plan via the SME (rig tests, vehicle tests, simulations, etc. in accordance with the Project Risk Assessment action plan) across the McLaren vehicle projects.
  • Monitoring of the project Engineering BoM evolution and future changes. (Supported by Durability Subject Matter Expert team)
  • Monitoring and reporting of Durability test results. Including QCRs and their resolutions.

  • Highlighting and discussing Critical Items during Technical Risk meetings, Project meetings, etc
  • Management of the Durability related project documents. Including, but not limited to, Engineering Sign-Off Document, High Level Plan, Budget/VTC Tracker, Weekly Wrap-Up, Weekly Attribute Status document.
  • Reporting of the Durability status during formal and ad-hoc meetings. Including, but not limited to, Attribute meetings, Technical Risk meetings, periodical review with the Vehicle Line Manager, weekly activity update, project meetings.
  • Management of the Vehicle Testing Plan Budget during Vehicle Testing Phase (periodical spending reviews, VTC, etc.).
  • Management of the high-level strategy of vehicle Durability tests (timing, resources, facility requirements, etc.)
  • Monitoring and reporting the significance of tested components, in function of the Engineering BoM evolution and planned changes (components to be installed on the Durability vehicles, etc.). Supported by Durability Subject Matter Expert team.
  • Monitor Durability vehicle builds, and updates carried out in MTC/MPC via the SMEs, managing and monitoring of the significance of the tested components
  • Support the high-level definition of each vehicle durability test control plan.
  • Raise concerns (QNs) related to issues occurring during the durability testing activity carried out internally
  • Management of vehicle testing related spending including, but not limited to, external tracks, facilities, exclusive bookings, etc.
  • Management of overall consumables planning related to each project.
  • Request for MTC logistical team to raise Requisitions for Durability components (consumables, spares, etc.).
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A degree in Automotive or Mechanical Engineering is preferred
  • An automotive knowledge of the vehicle and its main systems is required
  • Must be able to apply knowledge of statistics, reliability and durability theory
  • Experience as activity planner, is advantageous
  • Knowledge of problem solving methods, is advantageous
  • Must be proficient with the use of all common Microsoft Office applications
  • Must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
