Purpose of Role

This role is required to assistant manage the McLaren Automotive change processes and the product change management team.  The term “change” in this context applies to vehicle parts and the associated production processes. The core requirement of the role is to supervise a team of engineers and coordinators who implement changes to vehicles in development and in series production. It is the role of the PCM team to manage a process that implements changes which are the best-balanced solution to improving quality, delivery time and cost of McLaren Automotive products.

Principal Accountabilities

1. Optimise the performance of the PCM processes through leadership of Change Control Engineers and Change Control Coordinators.

2. Conduct day-to-day reviews with the Product Change Management team members to ensure progress is on-track with project and series changes. Support issues raised by the PCM team, cover absences and increased workload demand where required.

3. Responsible for the delivery of continuous improvements to the PCM processes as part of the PCM department’s process ownership role.

4. Oversee the Implementation of engineering change to the product in line with the PCM processes to ensure accurate and appropriate change to McLaren Automotive products.

5. Liaise closely with all departments across the business involved in the product change management process to progress changes for the vehicle project and block changes.

6. Chair product change management meetings to drive completion of actions from change stakeholders.

7. Generate progress status reports and communicate to the business effectively including preparation of weekly and monthly KPI’s. Investigate deviations from agreed standards.

8. Oversee the coordination of the change control process for vehicle projects in development to ensure successful vehicle launches.

9. Oversee the coordination of activities required to deliver the McLaren Automotive Block change process to allow for controlled implementation of change to vehicles in series development.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Business Knowledge

§  Experience of automotive production processes including vehicle manufacturing processes and supply planning

§  Experience of vehicle product development life-cycles including prototype build phases

§  Knowledge of automotive parts and McLaren products advantageous

 

Essential Functional / Technical Skills

§  Extensive experience in Product Change Management/ Change Control

§  Extensive Experience in Product Data and Bill of Material Management

§  Degree of technical/analytical nature required or extensive specific change control experience

§  Experience of using SAP advantageous

§  Experience of indirect stakeholder and workflow coordination

§  IT skills (MS Office)
