Purpose of Role

To provide technical support for the building systems (BS) comprising of:-
  • Building Management System (BMS).
  • PowerLogic System.
  • Fire Alarm System.
  • Lighting Control.
  • Smoke Control System.
  • Emergency Lighting.
  • Water Management System.
  • Closed Circuit Television (CCTV).
  • Access Control Systems.
  • Various computer networks, servers and computers at various McLaren sites as required.
  • Carry  all fault diagnosis, troubleshooting and repair/replacement of electronic security equipment.
  • Respond to emergency breakdowns whilst carrying out regular duties comprising of planned maintenance, computer software administration on all building systems.
  • Provide out of hours call out for all the building systems.
  • Support out of hours’ events as required.
Principal Accountabilities

  • Ensure all of the building systems servers/computers remain operational and maintained to the highest level.
  • Support and maintain all aspects of the security systems.
  • Ensure the short message system (SMS) and email alert messaging system is continuously operational and maintained.
  • Develop and maintain all software critical to the running and operation of the building systems.
  • Maintain all structured query language (SQL) databases associated with the building systems.
  • Support and maintain the various building systems network infrastructures (Cisco).
  • Repair and maintain the various access control devices, mechanically & electronically/electrically e.g.  car park barriers and control failures.
  • Management of the intruder alarm contracts for McLaren sites.
  • Keep the BS parts/stock at a suitable level and procure required parts via the SAP system.
  • Provide support and assistance to specialist contractors for BMS, Power and the Fire systems for the purpose of upgrade and maintenance work.
  • Provide support and management of the access card system and respond to access requests from the business.
  • Provide design, technical support, costings, modifications and replacements for the building systems as requested by the McLaren businesses.
  • Develop and source new hardware for upgrade and modernisation purposes.
  • Upgrade old and failing computer hardware and electronic controls, and integrate them into the existing infrastructure.
  • Provide support for the lighting control software including programming of devices and the Ethernet network.
  • Support other members of McLaren Managed Services (MMS) including the securty team in the event of an emergency e.g. fire alarm, with the building systems and their operation, in hours and out of hours when required.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience of Siemens Siport and TDSi access control software
  • Experience of C, C++, C#, Python & Java software programming 
  • SQL server and programming knowledge.
  • Server configuration and maintenance knowledge
  • Ability to troubleshoot computer hardware and electronic faults
  • Ability to rebuild computer systems.
  • Experience of configuring and troubleshooting Cisco networking equipment.
  • Experience of the configuration, installation, commissioning of serial 485 communications networks.
  • Experience of working with and fault finding on fibre optic transmission hardware.
  • Ability to plan, design and implement network topology
  • Experience of maintaining, configuration and commissioning of CCTV and access control systems
  • Experience with Pan Tilt Zoom (PTZ) and Internet Protocol (IP) cameras.
  • Setup and configuration of Digital Video Recorder (DVR) Network Video Recorder (NVR) systems.
  • Maintenance and fault finding on car park barriers e.g. FAAC.
  • Experience with various electronic locking systems, including: ASSA Abloy, Winkhaus & Shearlocks.
