Purpose of Role

The Sales Planning Manager is a senior appointment responsible for defining and developing the strategic landscape in the sales arena, required to support the long term growth and commercial objectives of the McLaren Automotive business.

The appointed individual will be managing a direct report, this being a Planning Development Analyst, located in our headquarters in Woking

Principal Accountabilities

  • Act as the thought leader and trusted advisor to the Leadership team in overall Business planning, from formulating global and local market strategies and programs, through to development of the long range product and volume plan 
  • Develop and own all aspects of sales channels and business processes improvement, and design of new commercial frameworks as the business grows and scales
  • Lead and manage all Long-range planning activities from product launches, to sales volume and tactical planning, in line with McLaren’s Horizon 2030 business plan
  • Own the quantitative analysis of the company’s commercial performance across the various markets, identifying opportunities and generating insights to steer the long term strategy of McLaren’s Automotive business
  • Help to develop and advocate the sales culture across the whole organisation, including our regional offices and global retailer network
  • Conduct in depth market, competitor, and opportunity analysis, identifying industry trends in product, options, and sales, with focus on best practices and new market segments, that can be leveraged to maximize and enhance long term business growth
  • Own and manage the development of key sales initiatives to support retail growth and performance
  • Work with the product, marketing, network development and regional teams, to develop a holistic and robust business plan, that maximizes market demand and opportunity, while securing the long term cash-flow requirements and profitability of the McLaren Automotive business
  • Continuously develop management information for the Executive Team with full responsibility for all long range business planning activities
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • University degree and/or master’s degree in business administration
  • Excellent management and knowledge of sales KPIs and business processes
  • Proven leadership skills with an ability to manage a competent and motivated team
  • Strategic thinker able to develop highly detail business plans
  • Significant automotive background and experience in volume and business planning
  • Extensive knowledge of the international luxury automotive retail environment
  • Well-developed business analysis skills and thorough understanding of financial indicators
  • Experience of partnering senior managers to produce and deliver against strict deadlines
  • Excellent project management skills with evidence of implementation and demonstrated ROI
  • Excellent knowledge and management of project management systems and tools
  • Excellent data management and processes
  • PC literate advanced level – especially in Excel and PowerPoint
