Purpose of Role
Based at McLaren Production Centre, as the Supplier Quality & Development (SQD) Series Engineer you will support the build quality for the series supplied parts.

You are responsible for creating, implementing, and maintaining standardised reporting structures to track the cost recovery and quality performance of McLaren component suppliers.  This role liaises with the activities of the SQD Series Operations team (Hotline, RTV and NCP processes).
Principal Accountabilities
  • Reporting to the SQD SERIES Manager, you will be responsible for all aspects of supplier quality within the McLaren Production Centre. 
  • Driving the assigned Suppliers to ensure components achieve/exceed the required quality level specified.
  • Providing Concern investigation (8D) and resolution for Series production.
  • Driving the assigned Suppliers to ensure components achieve/exceed the required quality level specified.
  • Collecting cost recovery data for all suppliers and produce weekly, monthly reports to circulate to Quality & SQD Management.
  • Analysing Hotline activity for key trends in supplier quality performance.
  • Scoping, specifying and supporting the delivery of best practices (e.g. OSR process, Power BI reporting, rigorous meeting cadence) in alignment with both brand and plant expectations.
  • Ownership of KPI & scorecard reporting for Quality Operations at both a local and plant level.
  • Supporting the implementation and ongoing use of safe working practices, including the correct specification/use of PPE.
  • Supporting in the investigation of near misses and accidents.
  • Governance of all RAMS by third party and suppliers on site, ensuring records are maintained for audit purposes
  • Supporting the specification of ‘smart’ quality targets, and ensure they are correctly reported and achieved.
  • Distributing Supplier Monthly Performance Metrics to SQD, Purchasing and Quality
  • Lead Supplier Quality Improvement activities (supplier process audit, root cause analysis workshops and corrective action audit).
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience of Automotive Quality/Manufacturing in OEM or Tier one, including some new model and series experience in QA related position.
  • Understand IATF 16949 requirements.
  • Experience of building close working relationships internally and with suppliers.
  • Experience of using problem solving techniques in a production environment (e.g. 8D, 5 Why).
  • Competent in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Previous Catia V5 experience would be an advantage.
  • Minitab knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Previous experience of Six Sigma techniques would be an advantage.
