To ensure McLaren Automotive continues its desire to be “the sportscar company”, we are looking for an SQA Manager to join Supplier Quality Assurance team. 


Purpose of Role

You will be responsible for working closely with all suppliers; providing supporting material to serial production to ensure daily production volume is met on time, targeting zero defects.

You will provide leadership in cross functional problem resolution, collaborating with Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing and Purchasing to drive key open issues to closure.

You will establish and maintain control of the supply base part quality and part availability in support of the McLaren business objectives.

 

Develop strategic Supply base improvement initiatives and Supplier Quality Manual revisions that under pin the McLaren continuous improvement ethos.  

Principal Accountabilities

·       Work with Cross Functional Leadership partners to drive collaborative behaviours to achieve optimum outcome for McLaren Profitability.

·       Manage and Maintain supplier performance metrics in serial production, including open quality concerns, PPAP performance and retrieving costs of poor quality from the supply chain that resulted in customer claims related to warranty or production losses and downtime within the McLaren Production Centre.

·       Plan and deploy SQA Site Engineer resources to cover the allocated suppliers in the Commodity group.

·       Ensure new supplier site Sourcing is well researched to build and maintain a competent supply base.  

·       Support Supplier selection & development processes to achieve a self-sufficient supply base (TS16949). Ensure Non TS16949 suppliers deliver their certification qualification to the approved sourcing plan.

·       Ensure all new tooled parts have APQP reporting established at the earliest opportunity (No later than at Sourcing Confirmation).

·       Maintain Plan of parts that require PPAP approvals and ensure the SQA Site Engineers make progress to plan follow ups to maintain the launch / delivery commitments.

·       Drive Supplier / Part Risk Assessments and develop risk mitigation actions. 

·       Identify Critical suppliers / parts that require full cross functional team engagement with the supplier.

·       Drive Major open issue resolution at Key suppliers, to ensure Supplier Senior Management team are fully engaged in the resolution process.

·       Drive Supplier Quality QCR issue resolution (8D) process to closure, to prevent reoccurrence.

Lead process improvement initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

·       The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

·       Technical Engineering qualified to Degree standard.

·       Previous experience in Engineering and Manufacturing.

Detailed knowledge of vehicle electrical systems & components.

      Have a working understanding of: Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA).

·       Structured Problem Solving (8D).

·       Robustness – Taguchi Methods

Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio etc.

·       Good communication skills to deal with people of all levels both within McLaren and at Suppliers
