To ensure McLaren Automotive continues its desire to be “the sportscar company”, we are looking for an SQA Manager to join Supplier Quality Assurance team. 

Purpose of Role

·       Site Resident function.

Provide leadership, coordination and direction to the MPC SQA Site Resident.

·       Production flow from SQA supply base into MPC (high/flexible travel requirement).

Working closely with all the SQA site team & at their supplier’s sites; providing supporting material to production to ensure daily production volume is met on time, targeting zero defects.

You will provide leadership in cross functional problem resolution within the supply base, collaborating with Product Development, Quality, Manufacturing, Purchasing and the responsible SQA Engineer/team to drive key open issues to closure.

Principal Accountabilities

·       Drive Major open issue resolution at Key suppliers, to ensure Supplier Senior Management team are fully engaged in the resolution process.

·       Identify Critical suppliers / parts that require full cross functional team engagement with the supplier.

·       When required, based at critical supplier sites to assist/lead in production flow & quality recovery, this will drive a high amount of flexible travel.

·       Request & manage SQA Site Engineer resources to cover the critical issue resolution.

·       Drive Supplier / Part Risk Assessments and develop risk mitigation actions. 

·       Work with Cross Functional Leadership partners to drive collaborative behaviours to achieve optimum outcome for McLaren Profitability.

·       Manage and Maintain supplier performance metrics in serial production, including open quality concerns, retrieving costs of poor quality from the supply chain that resulted in customer claims related to warranty or production losses and downtime within the McLaren Production Centre.

·       Drive Supplier Quality QCR issue resolution (8D) process to closure, to prevent reoccurrence

Lead process improvement initiatives.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

·       The successful candidate will have the following skills and experience:

·       Technical Engineering qualified to Degree standard.

·       Previous experience in Engineering and Manufacturing.

·       Have a working understanding of:  Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA).

·       Structured Problem Solving (8D).

·       Robustness – Taguchi Methods

·       Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio etc.

·       Highly motivated, team player who can lead by example and act with integrity 

·       Good communication skills to deal with people of all levels both within McLaren and at Suppliers 

·       Well organised and delivery focused, with a demonstrable track record of on-time delivery in a high-pressure environment 

·       Self-sufficient with ability to prioritise workload and request help when appropriate 

·       A fast learner 

·       Flexibility in terms work patterns and travel, including short notice travel
