We have a fantastic opportunity for a Marketing Manager to join our Asia Pacific Regional Team. Based in Tokyo, Japan, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for building the McLaren brand as well as helping driving sales across Japan and developing McLaren’s Japan dealer network to deliver exceptional marketing activities.
The successful candidate should expect regular travel across Japan as McLaren grows its operation in some of the fastest growing markets in the world. The Regional Marketing Manager will not only be responsible for managing the nation-wide activity led by the McLaren Automotive Japan office based in Tokyo but will also be guiding our appointed dealers.
Purpose of the Role:
To create and implement Japan regional marketing strategy that supports the delivery of our ambitious growth targets and, ultimately, establishes McLaren Automotive as the number one sports car manufacturer in the region.
Principal Accountabilities:
The main areas of focus for this role are to:
- strategy aligned with global direction with necessary local adjustment and active consultation with the Japan Retailer Network.
- Conceptualise, manage and deliver effective cross-media campaign, digital marketing and multi-dimensional scale of McLaren events that significantly enhance brand equity and deliver sales prospects to the Retailer Network
The successful candidate will work closely with PR, Sales and Aftersales teams within the region and the Global Marketing team based at the McLaren Technology Centre in the UK. This role will include activities such as:
· Develop a regional marketing strategy that supports the delivery of McLaren’s global, regional and local objectives
- Identify key customer profile and deliver McLaren brand value and benefit at all time
- Create, develop and implement annual nationwide marketing strategy and campaigns to enhance McLaren’s brand image, awareness and consideration
- Accelerate digitalization in marketing (owned media including mobile, SNS, data analytics, ad technologies and lead management)
- Develop national events plan leveraging global programs for brand building, prospecting and customer engagement
- Conceptualise regional events and project manage suppliers to deliver events that exceed customer and retailer expectations
- Develop tactical campaigns with the Regional Sales Manager to deliver short term sales goals
- Educate Retailer Marketing staff on the McLaren brand and positively challenge Retailers to deliver create and innovative marketing experiences that enhance McLaren’s brand image
- Conduct Retailer visits on a quarterly basis (at a minimum) to ensure marketing plans are being delivered as planned and stay relevant to market conditions
- Promote guaranteed used car business from national and retailer marketing perspective
- Help retailer achieve upsell of product personalization and factory options with Sales team
- Help support HQ motorsports team to grow customer racing business
- Regularly review and analyse market, industry and product trends
- Manage agencies in terms of performance, process and cost with KPI assessment
- Proactive and close management of the regional marketing budget
- Maintain an active and working knowledge of the global McLaren marketing key events
- Represent regional and market requirements at global McLaren marketing forums
- Manage 1 marketing assistant and nurture its skills and capability
Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
- Hands-on experience in core marketing competencies, including agency/supplier management, strategy development, brand management, digital marketing, tactical execution and prospect generation, ideally within the automotive or luxury industry.
- Ability to influence senior management and engage with all levels of employees in order to support strategic business goals.
- A proactive mindset that has generated creative solutions to strategic and tactical business challenges, supporting Sales and Marketing goals.
- General understanding of design and engineering attributes of sports cars and of the history of global sports car development.
- Experience in luxury / prestige brands marketing, preferably in the automotive sector.
- Motorsport experience is a plus
- Financially adept with experience of managing and controlling budgets.
