Purpose of Role

The Regional Marketing intern will provide support to the Regional Marketing & PR team, who manages 14 retailers across China including central marketing, retail marketing and PR across the entire China market. This is a role of great visibility, having exposure to the segment leading brand in the superluxury sports car industry.

This internship role in 2023 will play a critical role in the project management of key regional events, successful delivery of regional marketing and branding/PR initiatives. The incumbent is expected to be both internal & external stakeholder-facing, requiring accurate and effective communicative abilities.


Principal Accountabilities
  • Strategic Planning & Branding
  • Support the development and execution of 2023 regional marketing strategy, calendar and initiatives covering the areas of Communications, Events, CRM, social and PR
  • Manage quarterly submissions and review of dealer marketing activities
  • Serve as the key custodian of the McLaren brand in the region and drive full implementation of new global visual identity and brand guidelines across the region 
  • Participate in strategic brand research projects in the region where necessary
  • Regional Events Planning & Execution
  • Assist marketing managers in budget management and resource allocation
  • Partake in end-to-end brand-level and regional events planning and lead execution with support of event agencies/ retailers 
  • Conduct and partake in agency briefs
  • Manage overall project timelines and budget administration
  • Plan and prepare entire event programs targeted at different end-customers - McLaren global executives, retailers, media and VVIPs
  • Manage overall guest experience and assist with on-site execution at events 
  • Collate marketing reports from retailers, and generate analysis through data collection and sorting
  • Support retail marketing manager on retailer activity proposals and report reviews
  • Regional Public Relations
  • Check again calendarized social and PR plans to ensure activities are executed well, including social, vertical, and business media targeted programs and beyond
  • Manage the press fleet calendar in a disciplined and organised manner
  • Support PR manager and work with PR consultancy team to firm up media relations and keep media database up to date
  • Contributing to logistics and preparations of press activities, press or analyst tours, trade-show press meetings, on-site influential visits, and other events.
  • Marketing Reporting & Administration
  • Manage and track purchase orders and revenue from marketing/PR  spending and events
  • Support reporting and presentation requirements to central and regional team
  • Compile media press kits, press releases and marketing collaterals
  • Writing, translation and proofread on marketing/PR assets
  • Training
  • Pro-actively identify gaps of product and brand knowledge within dealer staff and work with marketing manager to rectify gaps
  • Lead the planning and execution of regional marketing workshops for dealer network to support new product launch and on-boarding of new marketing staff within the region

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Exposure to regional and global business operations
  • Clear understanding of the psyche behind luxury brand marketing and partake in the formulation/ execution of luxury marketing and branding initiatives
  • Gain communications insights to a product launch cycle, and hone retailer and agency management skills
  • Acquire project management experience for key product launch and regional events 
  • Strong grasp of entire strategic marketing planning process across dealership network

Personal Attributes
  • Junior/Senior/Postgraduate students, majoring in Marketing or Communications is preferred.
  • Fluent in both Chinese and English.
  • Excellent writing skills, keen on writing will be a plus.
  • Familiar with Office Suites.
  • Can-do attitudes, self-starter and passionate about super sports cars.
  • Some domestic travel may be required
