Quality Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a driven individual to join our Quality team as a Quality Engineer within McLaren Composite Technology Centre in Sheffield.

 

Purpose of the role:

In this capacity, your role and responsibilities will include, but not limited to the following:

§   Quality Engineer responsible for composite projects & component delivery at the Sheffield facility

§   Creation and maintenance of quality systems and documentation to support new and on-going activities

§   Creation and leadership of validation frameworks & activities for new products and processes with cross-functional teams

§   Provide dedicated Quality Engineering support for allocated project / area through product lifecycle

§   Develop Quality metrics, drive implementation and report results to the Leadership team

§   Support the team in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using a Practical Problem-Solving approach

§   Lead the application of Quality tools (such as PFMEA, SPC and MSA) in the allocated area

§   Liaise with Supplier Quality for incoming material issues

§   Support the development of measurement techniques for new products

What You'll Do

Principal accountabilities:

§   Support all aspects of Quality for the assigned areas of responsibility

§   Apply analytical skills and judgement to generate solutions to technical challenges

§   Deliver all aspects of Quality Engineering activities in line with targets, KPIs and milestones

§   Responsible for generating and leading validation activities from project inception to completed, fully matured & approved production part approval process documentation (PPAP)

§   Support the containment of Quality Concern Reports (QCR) within 24 hours

§   Support the resolution of Quality concerns using a structured approach to problem solving (PPS , 8D or similar)

§   Build effective cross functional relationships and contribute to achieving a high-performance team environment

What You'll Bring

Knowledge, skills & experience:

§   Strong knowledge & demonstrable experience with Quality Engineering skills, including PFMEA, SPC, MSA, Root Cause Analysis and auditing to established quality standards

§   Experience of compiling PPAP documentation & associated validation activities is essential

§   Experience of composite production is highly desirable

§   Experience in automotive manufacturing is advantageous

§   Knowledge of Automotive quality systems is advantageous

§   Experience of niche vehicle (low volume) programmes desirable

§   Experience of manufacturing using fabrics desirable

§   Excellent communication and I.T. skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint & Word)

§   Experience of Minitab software is desirable

§   Experience of Polyworks, Dataloop, Modus, Trios and SAP desirable but not required
