Purpose of Role

The primary objective of this role is to support the development & production of high-quality vehicles through the continual improvement of process and product quality. The Quality Engineering team is a centre of excellence for problem solving, and you will be working to understand, contain, and root cause complex issues across the breadth of the company.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Clear definition of concerns highlighted by both internal and external customers
  • Initial Triage of issues to support correct allocation of concerns
  • Problem breakdown of complex concerns using data analysis
  • Timely introduction of robust containments
  • Application of Quality tools to establish the direct cause of concerns
  • Root Cause Analysis of concerns using the McLaren problem solving methodology
  • Cross functional working with other business areas to identify long term countermeasures along with “Lessons Learnt” for future models
  • Support different teams across Parts Quality, Production, Engineering, and Development as a problem solving expert
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Experience of undertaking structured problem solving, preferably in an engineering / manufacturing environment.
  • Experience using metrology equipment (GOM/FARO) is beneficial.
  • Working knowledge of BIW assembly
  • Engineering degree background, preferably mechanical or manufacturing (or equivalent experience) 
  • Comprehensive knowledge of CAD and GD&T
  • Comfortable with complex Data Analysis
  • Working knowledge of FMEA and Design for Manufacture 
  • Succeeding as part of cross functional working groups
  • Confident in presenting work / feedback to both higher and lower levels in the company
  • An ability to challenge others and their conclusions constructively
  • Proven experience of working in a dedicated team environment as well as the ability to work as an individual
