Purpose of Role

You will be responsible for the effective sourcing and procurement of a range of components for all of McLaren’s vehicle platforms and future high performance road cars.


Principal Accountabilities
  • Full procurement responsibility for both pre-series development and series expenditure.
  • Managing a team of experienced Purchasing professionals.
  • To deliver against aggressive targets for the Purchasing function to support organisational growth.
  • Primary accountability in the implementation and management of Supplier Contracts.
  • Lead complex negotiations and support the teams in the development of long-term strategies for multi-million £ investment projects.
  • Create an organisation where talent is supported in its development by training, and mentoring assignments.
  • Deliver best cost outcomes for the Vehicle Programmes, with on-going, clear, regular updates.
  • Coaching Buyers and Senior Buyers in the creation, development and execution of complex commodity strategies to ensure adoption and exploitation of best-in-class Technologies and Suppliers.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Degree / MCIPS qualified
  • Desirable: Proven track record in sourcing vehicle components and assembly systems.
  • Ability to promote best practice purchasing techniques.
  • Leader of a high performing commercial team.
  • Proven commercial success / strong negotiator.
  • Previous manufacturing / automotive experience.
  • Proven supply chain experience in dealing with both high and low value supply organisations.
  • Excellent presentation skills with a proven ability to influence stakeholders up to Executive level, both internally and externally.
  • Can demonstrate awareness and/or application of a range of negotiation approaches, auction formats and their proper application to achieve best sourcing outcomes.
