Purpose of Role

Supporting the Vehicle Line Directors in applying Project Governance process and tools to achieve project targets and business imperatives with robust, efficient and consistent delivery of vehicle projects.

Responsibility for ensuring the appropriate strategy for each project is followed to maximise efficiency, accuracy and profitability of each individual project.

Coaching and mentoring the Project Data Coordinators to ensure they operate per the Project Management processes and deploy best practices and behaviours while taking advantage of VLMs expertise and knowledge base.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Oversee the definition and maintenance the project high level plan (HLP), supporting the Project Data Coordinators in the analysis of the critical paths and the interdependencies of the plans.
  • Support the Programme VLM in best deploying the Project Management methodology (MPM) and the MDP framework.
  • Lead (or support the Project Analyst in) key project meetings to track the progress status of the project and its sub-elements and steer the Team toward project objectives.
  • Facilitate information circulation inside and outside the Project “Team” through hard and soft Program Management tools
  • Promote continuous collaboration with the Vehicle Validation Coordinator to ensure full alignment of the development plan and fleet with the project milestones and assigned resource.
  • Oversee the application of the Product Breakdown Structure (PBS) by the Project Data Coordinator, providing guidance in the cost vs change content vs timing analysis
  • Lead, with the support of the Project Analyst, the Lesson Learned process for the Vehicle Line, ensuring full compliance with the MDP requirements and proactively promoting adoption of improvements for the Vehicle Line
  • Liaise at Director/key stakeholder level with MPC to resolve mis-build and support any necessary RCA activities.
  • Support the continued growth of the department and work to enable spreading project management through McLaren Automotive.
  • Work with the Programme VLMs and PMO Manager to develop a continuous improvement mindset within the team through development, training, target setting, KPI’s & Consistent performance reviews.
  • Responsible for executive review pack preparation and presenting status to executives
  • Oversee BOM coding and validate changes or discrepancies against key McLaren documents
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Educated to degree level in Management Engineering or Automotive Engineering
  • Knowledge of Program Management tools and methodologies
  • Previous experience related to high complexity products and multidisciplinary job environment. Automotive experience preferable, aerospace, defence or locomotive industries also considered
  • Proven track record in delivering projects and thorough understanding of automotive business model and product development process
  • Critical, factual and data driven approach based on knowledge of problem solving and cause-effects analysis methodologies
  • Data analysis skills and ability to summarize findings and drive conclusions
  • Management of timing plans, in multi-project contexts
  • Advanced level of MS Excel and proficiency in producing effective presentation and full project reporting
  • Good knowledge of financial and quality metrics
