Purpose of Role
  • Reporting to the Vehicle Line Director, managing all aspects of a new ultimate series vehicle including; design, engineering, manufacturing and associated commercial elements.
  • Be responsible for the successful approval of all vehicle gateways
  • Deliver program Bill of Material, Investment & Business Case Targets
  • Deliver programme cash / expenditure targets
  • Project managing the introduction to new markets to ensure certification compliance.
  • Manage vehicle prototype programs to meet sign-off requirements.
  • Assist and provide day to day direction to the principle stakeholders to achieve a successful vehicle launch that supports Quality, Cost and timing targets.
  • Assist and provide direction to the marketing, sales and service team to ensure the vehicle program delivers voice of customer needs and requirements.
Principal Accountabilities

  • Manage, to agreed priorities and targets, engineering content to deliver the business requirements set about in MDP (McLaren Development Programme)  and manage cross functional teams from Function Groups, purchasing, logistics, manufacturing, service, quality and after sales.
  • Chair Project meetings and manage the all cross functional activities to meet timings.
  • With the project chief engineer, lead the design and development of components and systems to ensure optimised vehicle performance.
  • Support and manage system and component, design, release, development and validation plans in association with functional experts.
  • Respond to requests for information or specification change with assessment of risk and cost and ensure full documentation via the glide path.
  • Control DFM and FMEA as required.
  • Preparation and presentation of material to support external and internal project status reviews

  • Programme management within an engineering function
  • Leader of high performance cross functional teams
  • Extensive experience of automotive design and development
  • Excellent systems design and development knowledge
  • Proven problem solving and change management capability (PPS)
  • Experience of high and niche vehicle (low volume) programmes
