Purpose of Role

This role in the People Operations team focuses on enhancing both people and processes throughout McLaren Automotive. It involves using data to make improvements in guiding significant changes, including organizing programs. Reporting to the People Operations Manager, the emphasis is o embracing and promoting new ideas while making sure projects support business goals 

The main tasks are to assist, plan, and lead projects aimed at improving processes by collecting and analysing performance data. It's important to ensure that these improvement benefit safety, quality, delivery, cost and overall performance. Success comes from from collating with others, being responsive, and introducing innovative approaches. 

To support these improvements and make positive changes, this role will organise and provide training for the wider Production environment. This involves coordinating activities across various learning programs, covering essential process aspects ad LEAN methologies.

Ensure full use and application of standard principles, theories, concepts and techniques to optimise operations and the interaction between departments, to include:

  • Lean Manufacturing 5S, Process Standardisation, Visual Management
  • Practical Problem Solving & Root Cause Analysis using tools such as A3, Problem Solving, 4M
  • Project management & Planning
  • Process & Value Stream analysis
  • Data and graphical analysis
  • SQDCPE methodologies
  • Implement effective sustainable training solutions for problems arising, or for any opportunities across the whole of the business. This includes; Body Assembly, Paint, General Assembly, End of Line product quality assurance processes, Forecast and supply demand, Goods receipt, Warehousing and Line replenishment.

Support and improve Operations through:

  • Planning & implementing capital projects and business cases in support of improvement plans; Planning, tracking progress, contingencies and evaluating outcomes
  • Cultural alignment to McLaren behaviours, values and business processes Metrics, KPI’s, Dashboards, Business process health indicators
  • Identification and utilisation of the skills and abilities of employees at all levels
  • Systems and data platforms such as MS Office, Visio, ERP and interacting systems (SAP, PowerBi, PowerApps, an advantage)
Principal Accountabilities
  • Implement Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement throughout the organisation by using appropriate
  • Lean principles
  • Provide essential support to operations to achieve SQDCPE daily targets
  • Influence and partner with plant personnel on improvement opportunities
  • Acting as a training and line support ambassador; develop learning material, facilitate, train & coach
  • Sustain project & improvement efforts through, although not limited to, auditing & standardising documents
  • Facilitate Kaizen, concern & corrective actions, rapid improvement events, process mapping and Lean Manufacturing tools
  • Communicate to all levels of the organisation
  • Troubleshoot disconnects within Business Processes, Manufacturing, Quality, Assembly
  • d back office support issues, using data driven analysis as well as ‘on the floor’ interaction and ‘in the office’ interaction
  • Define, refine and improve existing processes including; Manufacturing processes/procedures, new process development, creation of process documentation
  • It is expected that the role will reinforce the lean manufacturing and built in quality principles.

  • Highly analytical and able to identify improvement opportunities from in-depth analysis of complex data sets
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA) knowledge and application experience is essential
