Purpose of Role
  • Working within the moulding department to develop unique carbon composite manufacturing processes, machinery and tooling capable of meeting TAKT, cost and quality targets
  • Supporting and leading the development of associated capabilities (people, materials, documentation, supply chain activities)
  • Identifying continuous improvement opportunities, and implementing improvement actions
Principal Accountabilities
  • Optimise process and material flow, identify and mitigate bottlenecks through technical innovation
  • Support production activities, including process or technical fault finding using Practical Problem-Solving (PPS) to respond to product quality concerns with containment and countermeasure actions
  • Record, process, analyse and interpret complex process data to improve process knowledge, drive technical development, and resolve problems in a robust manner
  • Work within cross functional teams as a moulding representative with accountability for both project and technical deliverables
  • Where required, represent the department with key stakeholders, customers and external suppliers
  • Work with the design teams to support ‘Engineering Release’ of materials components and tooling
  • Deliver Technical Specifications for systems (Components, Tooling, Machinery, Materials) which are required to develop and deliver new manufacturing processes
  • Prioritise and manage complex component, equipment and material procurement projects within established timelines and budgets
  • Be the process expert for MCTC’s moulding technology, leading R&D activities for future component programs
  • Deliver processes meeting time cost and quality requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Proven ability to solve complex engineering problems with initiative, innovation and teamwork
  • Knowledge of quality systems and associated regulatory requirements
  • In depth knowledge of carbon composite materials, design, processing techniques and associated defects is essential
  • Proven experience with practical problem-solving techniques
  • Sound commercial and financial awareness
  • Good communicator both in writing and spoken
  • Able to develop relationships with team members and critical strategic suppliers alike
  • ·Minimum HND in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Production Engineering (or related discipline)
  • Knowledge of large component HP-RTM production processes
  • Experience in novel high value capital equipment specification and incorporation into a production facility
  • Experience in composite and metallic tooling design, development and manufacture
  • Knowledge of siemens control systems
