What to Expect

You’ll be supporting the Head of PR and Chief Communications Officer in driving positive public awareness and understanding of the McLaren business and its products, primarily through generation of earned media coverage. Specifically, you will manage and support the administrative and organisational requirements of the central PR team in its interaction with external stakeholders – including media and other influencers – and internal stakeholders including other central functions and regional PR teams.

What You'll Do
  • Manage organisational requirements of Central PR team, including communication flow within the team and with regional PR operations.
    • Manage Central PR interaction with Regional teams to ensure maintenance of robust two-way comms processes with regions as agreed by the Head of PR
    • Ensure all appropriate PR stakeholders (Central and Regional) are aware of, and have a clear understanding of, Central PR strategic and operational plans.
    • Develop and maintain a full appreciation of Regional activities (HLP) as Central fact-holder, especially where links to Central plans are clearly evident
    • Align with Global Social Media Manager to ensure centrally developed assets and materials are shared with regions in good time to meet their requirements.
  • Manage Central PR interaction with other internal stakeholders including on strategic planning and activity implementation.
    • Ensure that required input from the PR function into business strategies and activities is provided in a timely and accurate manner.
    • Participation in operational meetings including on new-model introduction and global drive event planning; and McLaren participation in external events.
    • Manage as liaison point alongside the Head of PR, interaction with Brand Marketing and associated functions, notably Product Marketing and Events
    • Manage PR participation in the new model launch management process.
  • Manage organisational processes for Central PR direct media engagement activities.
    • Lead the media engagement process flow for each activation.
    • Maintain close communication with the Brand Events team to ensure activation planning is progressing as required.
    • Ensure events are delivered to the highest standards, specifically against agreed KPIs.
    • Ensure all appropriate PR stakeholders (Central and Regional) are aware of and have a clear understanding of Central PR operational plans/
    • Physical presence and engagement with media at external events is required.
  • Point of management liaison with Engineering and Product Strategy teams on new and existing vehicle programmes to explore PR opportunities and develop plans accordingly. 
    • Develop full understanding of existing and upcoming McLaren vehicle programmes, including cadence and flow.
    • Understanding of timing and availability of vehicles for PR use
    • Develop and gain approval for vehicle usage plans and event activation strategy.
  • Support Head of PR with Central PR Fleet strategy, including:
    • Vehicle ordering
    • Ensure timely order of replacement vehicles and manage de-fleet/off-fleet of Central operational fleet as agreed with Comm Ops fleet team.
  • Together with Head of PR, manage and maintain accuracy of Central Product PR budget and adherence to agreed levels of spend.
  • Support the Chief Communications Officer or their representative with ad-hoc Global PR related projects.
What You'll Bring
  • Management experience in PR/media relations
  • Proven management ability in developing, implementing and maintaining strategies and disciplines that ensure individual and functional organisational and administrative requirements are met.
  • Significant experience of networking within Marketing disciplines and working within dynamic and change-oriented teams 
  • Strong budgetary management experience; proven ability to deliver against targets
  • High level of competence in PowerPoint; Excel; Word. Adobe Photoshop (or similar) is desirable.
  • Ability to engage with all levels of employees (including senior management); retailers and agency management to achieve strategic individual and business goals.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the global mediascape, particularly but not exclusively in the automotive field.
  • Strong understanding of the design and engineering attributes of supercars and automotive industry trends and best practice
  • Luxury brand experience and a strong understanding of the luxury world
  • Fluent written and spoken English; other languages an advantage.
