The role of the Production Manager is to lead and co-ordinate the day-to-day activities of McLaren’s mainline assembly, producing high performance vehicles across a two-shift operation. Reporting into the Production Director, this role will require the incumbent to lead a multi-functional team, ensuring quality and timely delivery. This is an exciting period of transformation for the company, the incumbent would be expected to lead by example and build upon McLaren’s team based working approach, and embed a no faults forward approach whilst ensuring morale, behaviours, and environment is maintained in keeping with McLaren’s standards.
- Leading and managing a very large team, with the direct assistance of Group and Team Leaders, ensuring quality standards are met through an engaged and motivated team,
- Quality focused, embedding a right first-time approach within assembly, utilising continuous improvement methodologies,
- Oversee the assembly operation and production processes,
- Management of KPIs, including (but not limited to) quality, cost, delivery, safety,
- Headcount budget to be managed at optimum, ensuring absence cover when needed,
- Production startup readiness, checking resources, equipment, tooling, and materials,
- Track near misses and accidents to solve any unsafe procedures, report as required,
- Lead or assist in transformation projects outlined by the business,
- Promote team versatility, through training & development programs,
- Lead and assist the team in problem solving activities through to a successful outcome,
- Experience in analysing and interpreting data,
- Compliance to McLaren operating system TS16949,
- Work in partnership with manufacturing engineering,
- Vehicle functionality and electrical conformity,
- Adherence to build procedure “Process Element Steps”.
- Previous senior management experience (within automotive sector is preferable),
- Problem solving methodology,
- IT literate in SAP, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint,
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written,
- Technical understanding of production systems,
- Use of diagnostic interfaces,
- Experience in the analysis and interpretation of data,
- Strategic planning,
- Budget management.
- High attention to detail, particularly relating to quality standards,
- Confident and professional attitude displayed at all times,
- Able to act under pressure with calmness, clarity of thought, and decisive authority,
