What to Expect

To ensure the continuous improvement in quality, cost, cycle time and availability of the McLaren Composite Technology Centre’s CNC manufacturing processes.

What You'll Do
  • In this capacity your role and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following: 
  • Lead the improvement of the CNC manufacturing processes to reduce cycle time, scrap, introduce new products and product repairs, while increasing equipment availability. 
  • Support the improvement of the manufacturing processes to reduce cycle time, scrap, introduce new products and product repairs, while increasing equipment availability.  
  • Record, process, analyse and interpret complex process data to improve process knowledge and drive technical development. 
  • Lead Practical Problem-Solving activities (PPS) to address and resolve quality issues within an appropriate time frame. 
  • Maintain production process flows, PFMEA’s and control plans. 
  • Support in updating production documents including standard operating procedures, work instructions and product standards. 
  • Lead engineering changes for parts already introduced into production. 
  • Lead the introduction of new products and processes into production. 
  • Be Engineering’s first point of contact for the Production and Maintenance teams. 
  • Present the status of Production Engineering projects and KPI’s to key stakeholders.
What You'll Bring
  • Previous proven experience of CNC manufacturing processes, ideally within an automotive environment. This should include programming, validating, and operating 5-axis CNC’s. 
  • Experience of MasterCam, Vericut and CATIA or similar is essential. 
  • Previous proven industry experience, ideally within an automotive manufacturing environment. 
  • Use of problem-solving methodology, like 8D, PPS or equivalent. 
  • Experience of leading manufacturing process improvement projects following a methodical approach (eg. DMAIC or equivalent). 
  • Ability to work with and manipulate large data. 
  • Ability to setup relevant and accurate data collection methods and records. 
  • Experience of leading PFMEA reviews and updating control plans would be beneficial. 
  • Effective presenting skills, making complex issues clear and transparent. 
Experience of the following would be advantageous but is not essential: 
  • Composites manufacturing processes 
  • High-Pressure RTM 
  • Robotics 
  • Experience with using a structured change management system. 
  • Excellent IT skills.
