Purpose of Role

The Manufacturing Engineer will report to and assist the Motorsport Production Manager in the following disciplines: -
  • Provide first hand support in the development and execution of all Manufacturing Engineering practices in Motorsport Operations.
  • Lead by example, working within own functional area as well as cross functionally to ensure process is identified, improved and embedded to achieve optimal efficiency.
  • Support and assist the Production team to drive improvement in the business areas of Project Management, Safety, Quality, Cost Management, People Development and Product Delivery.
  • Support and assist the Project Engineering and Production Team in scoping, specifying and delivering best operational practices in alignment with brand expectations.
Principal Accountabilities

Projects
  • Assist with planning for the smooth integration of Motorsport Products into the Motorsport Production Facility
  • Fully integrate motorsport projects and products into SAP with full completion of routing generation, component allocation & document creation
  • Support the wider Production functions with the delivery of all program aspects from inception to series production and beyond.
  • Assist with the analysis and collation of program end reports on all lessons learned
  • Assist with the delivery of MDP objectives ensuring all project gateway milestones are achieved.
  • Identify and report on program risk items ensuring corrective actions are in place preventing program delay.
  • Support the Motorsport Project Team and the Production Manager in the generation of timing plans that support full program delivery activities.
  • Support the Motorsport Production Manager with the development of departmental budgets as contributor to overall program business cases.
 
Quality
  • Support the Project Engineering and Production Team to ensure all quality targets are correctly specified and achieved.
  • Support the Project Engineering and Production Team in problem solving initiatives.
  • Support the Project Engineering and Production Team in the implementation of customer containment actions.
  • Support the Product Design Engineering team in identifying resolutions for product related. issues during the digital and prototype development phases to protect the product in the field and enhance brand strength.
 
Manufacturing:
  • Develop & deliver all vehicle assembly process feasibility activities:
  • Design Reviews
  • Assembly sequencing, Process Documentation and Product Traceability methodology
  • Hours Per Car generation / reporting via digital virtual builds & physical builds
  • Hand Tooling & Bespoke Tooling requirements
  • Continuous improvement initiatives
  • Manufacturing SAP integration via ER/MR process of all components for relative motorsport products
 
Cost
  • Assist the control of cost drivers for the Motorsport Production Team.
  • Initiate cost control and cost improvement activities.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Work closely with, Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Assurance and Production Planning to coordinate the smooth introduction into production of new models and derivatives.
  • Work closely with the Engineering and Development organisation throughout the MDP phases to ensure the products are brought to market on time, on budget at the required quality and volume ramp levels
  • Carry out any other tasks required by business needs
