What to Expect
At McLaren Automotive, our pursuit of performance doesn’t stop at speed or power — it extends to the longevity and integrity of every component. To push boundaries without compromise, we’re looking for a visionary leader in Durability & Loads CAE to lead a world-class team in delivering the virtual durability attribute across all vehicle lines.
This is your opportunity to drive the methodology for early and precise loads deployment, while shaping the future of stress, fatigue, and high-fidelity durability simulations that underpin McLaren’s DNA.

What You'll Do
Lead a World-Class Durability Team
  • Build, inspire, and mentor a multi-faceted group of MBS (multi-body systems) and FEA engineers. Develop full-vehicle models that set the benchmark for loads analysis, enabling both further simulation work and early validation of structurally sensitive systems at bench , rig and vehicle level.
Durability Target Definition & Cascade
  • Define vehicle-level durability targets in alignment with program goals and customer expectations. This includes the setting of reference duty cycles (RDCs) and standard reference duty cycles (SRDCs), including mileage, environment, and manoeuvre profiles.
  • Implement innovative MBS/1D methods for robust loads cascade process, from vehicle to component level, and speed product development.
Testing & Validation
  • Define physical validation methods (e.g., block cycle, random vibration, road simulation) for components, systems, and full vehicles.
  • Work with test and development teams, define road load acquisition process to ensure robust loads collection and analysis for cascade and correlation.
Innovate for Lean Delivery
  • Champion lean engineering approaches, leveraging automation, cloud computing, and digital twin technologies to accelerate durability insight and reduce programme lead times.

Set the Standard in Durability CAE
  • Develop best practices for all major durability-based analyses — including detailed stress analysis, fatigue, vibrational fatigue, fastener/welds/joints analysis, and material testing for fatigue characterisation. Ensure methods are robust, repeatable, and correlate strongly with physical testing.
  • Work with the Senior Manager CAE and relevant stakeholders to define the virtual road map to achieve best in class methodologies for Durability and Loads CAE
Program Delivery
  • Manage the delivery of the passive safety attribute through the virtual stages of the program with an optimised use of resources & strict compliance to program timing and budget.

What You'll Bring
• Proven leadership in durability and loads CAE within automotive, motorsport, or high-performance engineering.
• Expertise in MBS and FEA for full-vehicle durability analysis and structural FEA.
• Strong track record in delivering loads, stress, and fatigue simulations into vehicle programmes.
• Deep understanding of test methodologies, full vehicle principles for loads generation & FEA methods for virtual validation of critical structures.
• Familiarity with accelerated durability testing methods and correlation strategies.
• Understanding or experience with automation, cloud computing, and digital twin in a CAE environment.
• Proven experience in working within the durability test teams the inherent challenges & intricacies that need understanding for developing the complementary virtual tool set.
• Strong stakeholder management, communication, and team development skills.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Proven experience in CAE, preferably in the automotive industry.
• Proficiency in CAE software such as Adams, VI Grade, MIDAS, Abaqus, nCode and/or similar tools.
• Proficiency in vehicle instrumentation for durability
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.

What We'll Do for You
We offer a wide – ranging benefits package, which includes:
  • Structured career development framework
  • 25 days’ holiday, plus bank holiday. Annual buy & sell up to five days
  • Enhanced company pension scheme
  • Discretionary annual bonus award
  • Private medical insurance and health cash plan
  • Life assurance benefit
  • Ability to apply for a sabbatical of up to one year after only two years’ service
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
