Purpose of Role

To work as part of the Corporate Quality team in the McLaren Production Centre, managing the safe and effective day to day operation of the Customer Acceptance Line (CAL). As the CAL / Launch Manager you will be required to work closely with the Manufacturing team to drive improvement in all plant quality metrics such as CAL FPV, RFT/ FTT. Playing a pivotal part in setting, managing, and continuously improving our vehicle Quality standards. Ultimately ensuring quality levels are constantly improved & customer expectations are met.

You will also be responsible for planning & managing the quality maturation of new models throughout the pre-series build phases (VP, FEU, PP) until sign-off (J1+90) ensuring all MDP2 Deliverables are achieved.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Management of the Vehicle Buy-Off team in CAL across two shifts.
  • Develop & maintain a skilled and competent high performing team structure.
  • Develop & maintain a clear set of KPI’s to give clarity on product quality performance.
  • Lead by example - maintain and endorse the McLaren Values and culture.
  • Resource allocation & prioritisation.
  • Management of OpEx, and headcount budgets.
Data Analysis of all Customer Acceptance Line (CAL) outputs, this will include:
  • Tracking FPV (Faults Per Vehicle), RFT/FTT
  • Cross functional team Reviews to ensure all major calls and trending issues are escalated, driving the defect back to the point of occurrence.
  • Accurate defect reporting focusing on a no fault forward approach.
  • Provide urgent containment response to issues found in Warranty and product audit, managing the plant quality responses to critical line stop / stop shipment topics. 
  • Represent Quality in the McLaren Production Centre providing Process, Accountability, Collaboration, Leadership, and Integrity.
  • Develop, and ensure consistent use of, comprehensive operational Quality standards (including CAS) for use in the standardised inspection processes.
  •      Develop, maintain and/or improve a set of Quality metrics to provide a clear measure of the manufacturing process.
  • Work cross-functionally to drive & govern quality in every aspect of vehicle assembly, including new product launch.
  • Implement, manage, and report upon vehicles in the Batch & Hold process. Drive involved stakeholders to ensure the 'state of the art' quality levels in cars shipped during the launch period.
  • Manage the quality controls for any remote quality uplift facilities used during launch, ensuring reworks/concessions are completed & fully validated.
  • Ensure that all relevant LQOS (Launch Quality Operating System) procedures are correctly planned for and deployed for any new model or model year.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • Experience within a Quality role at OEM or Tier One level.
  • 5+ years at management level
  • Problem solving skills – experienced.
  • Capable using the MSOffice suite of software.
  • Proven track record of delivering targets (S, Q, D, C, P)
  • Experience of lean manufacturing tools is a distinct advantage.
  • Experience of using SAP & associated tools is also a distinct advantage.
