What to Expect
As a Highly skilled technician within the production area, specifically paint shop reporting to the Group Leader at McLaren Automotive, you will take on a role in ensuring a seamless and efficient operation within the application of paint at it’s very best within one of our built-in quality areas, ensuring production continue a consistent, high quality application process.
Your primary responsibility will be practical problem solving any issues found within the quality stations, reworking the fault to the required standard of process/application. Working alongside MSO being able to deliver bespoke paint themes and liveries designed by the customer. Conducting a 4m method to quickly resolve within our internal stakeholder team. You will also ensure all health and safety guidelines are adhered too. Your contributions will be instrumental in achieving our ambitious goals as a company.
What You'll Do
  • Understand practical problem-solving methods.
  • Be able to follow precise work instructions – knowing that 1mm can affect the outcome of a completed car.
  • Escalate any issues found within the built-in quality stations and rectify to process standard
  • Ensure 5s within your work area in line with McLaren expectations.
  • Maintain standards set such as, using the uniform/ clothing provided.
  • Maintain a safe working environment for yourself and team members.
  • Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and safety standards is essential. The technician must always adhere to safety protocols.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities as requested by your leader.
  • Logical thinker with good communication is vital to ensure all rework methods are to the highest of standards.
  • Experienced in all aspects of paintwork are required. Must be multiskilled with good knowledge of paint, prep, filler work and polishing.
  • Experience of using vectors and graphics for bespoke liveries.

What You'll Bring
  • The understanding of processes/work instructions to deliver a consistent product.
  • Ability to follow precise work instructions to deliver a bespoke paint finish that the customer has designed. Implement the detailed design instructions to the correct measurements to ensure the customer receives their vision.
  • The understanding of workplace safety risk assessments and their meaning.
  • Ability to make sound and logical decisions.
  • Experience of working under pressure and to tight deadlines
  • Proven experience and knowledge within paint application is essential.
  • Great problem-solving abilities
  • Skilled in panel preparation, filler work, spray painting and polishing.
  • Multiskilled with an understanding of panel surface requirements that could affect the final paint finish.
  • Experience on working on Ultimate series type cars such as Speed tail, Elva, P1 , Senna or other type cars. Or experience of painting bespoke type finishes such as pinstriping, fading multiple colours into each other.
