Purpose of Role

McLaren now have an opportunity for a talented Senior Transmission Calibration Engineer to join our team based at the McLaren Technology Centre (Woking, Surrey), with regular travel required to the McLaren facility based in IDIADA (Spain).  Reporting to the Principal Driveability Engineer, you will be fully responsible for the delivery of the transmission calibration for a specific McLaren application.  Working alongside the wider driveability team, you will have the freedom to shape and develop the driveability characteristics for our future architectures.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Responsible for the development of gearbox driveability calibration for a specific McLaren application
  • Lead the gearbox software/calibration development for driveability functions and the hydraulic pressure controls
  • Develop concepts for future driveability features, develop them from to proof of concept through to production
  • Develop the architecture interface between engine, gearbox and hybrid system.
  • Support other department areas within the Electronic Systems and Control department (SW development, Emission, OBD)
  • Work in close collaboration with the Powertrain and Vehicle departments
  • Attend over-seas test trips to perform all calibration and validation activities
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Proven industry experience related to Dual Clutch Transmissions
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electronics, Physics, Engineering, or an equivalent education
  • Strong passion for automotive design and development
  • Good comprehension of control strategies for internal combustion engine, transmission, electric motor, or any hydraulic systems
  • Extensive knowledge and competences in terms of calibration activities and processes
  • Good level of knowledge of the Etas, Vector, MathWorks software toolchains (e.g. Inca, Canape, Matlab Simulink)
  • Strong interpersonal and team-working skills
  • Strong communication skills with high fluency in English both written and verbal
  • Driving licence – you will be required to complete a medical and McLaren driving assessment.
