What to Expect
The Logistics Engineer will support the design, development and implementation of internal logistics processes, delivery media, kitting strategies, system updates and lineside material flow standards across Logistics. Reporting to the Logistics Engineering Manager, the role is responsible for delivering day-to-day logistics engineering tasks that ensure parts are preserved, protected, presented and delivered efficiently from warehouse through to production line, supporting accurate Manufacturing Engineering routing, safe handling, efficient manufacturing, operational stability and successful new model launch readiness.

Why This Role Matters:
This is a hands-on engineering role within Logistics, supporting Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Facilities, Health and Safety and operational logistics teams. The successful candidate will help deliver internal material flow improvements, delivery media solutions, lineside presentation standards and practical logistics engineering activities within a fast-paced, premium automotive environment.

What You'll Do
• Internal Logistics Process Design and Material Flow:
o Support the design and optimisation of internal logistics processes from warehouse through to lineside, helping to ensure safe, efficient and repeatable part flow into production.
o Support the definition and implementation of lineside feed strategies that meet manufacturing requirements, reduce handling touches, minimise lineside footprint and improve part presentation for operators.
o Develop and maintain kitting strategies, sequencing principles and replenishment processes that support build requirements, minimise operator disruption and enable controlled material presentation at the point of use.
o Implement updates to logistics processes, kitting methods, delivery frequencies and lineside presentation standards in response to production line changes, model mix, takt requirements, engineering changes and operational constraints.
o Support the design, specification, trial and implementation of appropriate delivery media, stillages, trolleys, dollies, carts and point-of-use presentation solutions to protect parts and support efficient production processes.
o Ensure all internal delivery media and logistics processes maintain part protection, ergonomic handling, quality standards and safe movement from multiple warehouses to the production line, using appropriate formats such as kanban, kitting and sequenced delivery.
o Apply part preservation standards across internal logistics processes, ensuring delivery media, kitting methods, handling routes and storage points prevent damage, contamination, misplacement and unnecessary exposure.
o Create and maintain standard operating procedures, layouts, process flows and work instructions that improve process control, productivity, safety and repeatability across internal logistics operations.
o Maintain logistics master data, system parameters and process information required to support accurate Manufacturing Engineering routings, warehouse-to-line movements, delivery methods and point-of-use presentation.
o Ensure system updates reflect agreed physical logistics processes, including storage location, pick method, delivery route, kitting requirement, kanban trigger, sequencing logic and lineside destination.
o Apply lean manufacturing and logistics engineering principles to remove waste, optimise flow, improve productivity and support a practical “one touch logistics” approach where feasible.
o Work with Packaging, Warehouse and Material Planning teams to ensure inbound packaging solutions transition effectively into internal delivery media and lineside presentation requirements.

• Logistics Engineering, Projects and Launch Readiness:
o Deliver assigned logistics engineering tasks and project work from concept through to implementation, supporting agreed timing, cost, quality, safety and operational performance targets.
o Support Logistics launch readiness for new vehicle programmes, including internal process design, delivery media readiness, lineside layouts, part presentation, risk mitigation and production support.
o Ensure kitting, sequencing and lineside delivery processes are designed and validated ahead of launch or production change points, with clear contingency plans to protect build continuity.
o Develop logistics concepts, process maps, layouts, capacity assumptions and implementation plans to support new model introductions, engineering changes and operational transformation activity.
o Support Manufacturing Engineering routing reviews by validating logistics assumptions, material presentation methods, warehouse pick requirements, delivery routes, kitting points and lineside delivery locations.
o Implement controlled system and process updates following engineering changes, line changes, layout changes or launch readiness reviews, ensuring logistics data remains aligned to the agreed operating model.
o Track and report progress, risks, issues, benefits, KPI performance and launch readiness status to the Logistics Engineering Manager and relevant stakeholders.

• Stakeholder Collaboration and Governance:
o Build strong working relationships with Manufacturing, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Facilities, Health and Safety, Production Control, Warehouse Operations and 3PL partners to ensure logistics engineering solutions are aligned to business and production requirements.
o Support governance for internal logistics process reviews, delivery media decisions, layout changes and stakeholder sign-off, ensuring requirements are captured, risks are highlighted and agreed standards are implemented consistently.
o Work with Manufacturing Engineering, Production Control, IT systems teams and operational stakeholders to ensure routing, master data and logistics system changes are reviewed, approved, implemented and communicated effectively.
o Facilitate cross-functional discussions to balance manufacturing efficiency, part protection, ergonomics, safety, cost, space, quality and launch timing when defining new or revised logistics solutions.
o Provide clear communication, escalation and progress updates to the Logistics Engineering Manager and internal stakeholders, ensuring logistics engineering tasks are visible, timely and effectively embedded into operational plans.

• Data, Performance and Benefits Delivery:
o Collect, analyse and interpret operational data to identify trends, constraints and opportunities across internal material flow, delivery routes, lineside presentation, space utilisation and logistics process performance.
o Analyse system data and operational feedback to identify mismatches between planned routing, system configuration and actual material flow, escalating and correcting issues where required.
o Translate data insights into practical engineering actions, quantified benefits and clear recommendations for review with the Logistics Engineering Manager and operational stakeholders.

• Leadership, Capability and Culture:
o Support coaching and training for logistics, warehouse and production support teams in standardised material flow, safe handling, delivery media use and logistics engineering principles.
o Contribute to a proactive improvement culture by supporting ownership, collaboration, practical innovation and sustained problem resolution across internal logistics operations.
o Support workshops, process reviews and training sessions to strengthen team capability and embed improved logistics processes.

• Quality, Compliance and Operational Control:
o Ensure internal logistics processes and delivery media comply with safety requirements, quality standards, company procedures and relevant industry expectations.
o Maintain part preservation controls for internal movement, kitting, sequencing, storage and lineside presentation, ensuring quality risks are identified, escalated and mitigated before implementation.
o Apply change control to logistics system updates, ensuring master data, routing assumptions and process changes are accurate, approved, traceable and embedded before go-live.
o Implement process controls that protect product integrity, improve operational discipline and reduce quality, delivery, handling and ergonomic risk.

• Resource, Equipment and Supplier Management:
o Optimise the use of people, equipment, space, delivery routes and logistics assets to improve internal material flow and lineside delivery performance.
o Support suppliers and internal stakeholders in specifying, procuring, trialling and implementing delivery media, handling equipment and engineered logistics solutions.

• Performance Monitoring:
o Support the development and tracking of key performance indicators to measure the effectiveness of logistics engineering solutions and internal material flow improvements.
o Provide regular updates on assigned tasks, launch readiness, operational performance, improvement progress and delivered benefits.
