What to Expect
The Lead Engineer - Chassis CAE leads the structural and fatigue simulation strategy for chassis systems across McLaren Automotive programmes. This role drives the development of lightweight, high-performance architectures by delivering robust CAE insight that directly informs key engineering decisions.
What You'll Do
• Technical leadership: Lead the technical delivery of chassis structural and fatigue performance, work with project engineers to assess risk on new projects and develop plans to manage this risk thought virtual and physical test activities.
• Deliver vehicle programmes: Predict, optimise, and validate chassis performance, covering stiffness, strength, fatigue life, and lightweight efficiency through engineering gateways. Determine the most efficient engineering techniques to deliver maximum value.
• Oversee external CAE partners: Ensuring quality, consistency, and alignment with internal or industry standards and best practice.
• Deliver continuous improvement: Drive technical direction in structural and fatigue methodologies, including next-generation and AI/ML-based approaches.
• Develop relationships with academia, software and hardware suppliers and key consultancies.

What You'll Bring
• Significant experience in chassis CAE, with deep expertise in structural and fatigue analysis across full vehicle development cycles.
• Advanced technical knowledge of chassis systems including suspension, frames, mounts, and lightweight structures.
• Advanced knowledge of material behaviour (metallic and composites) and fatigue life prediction.
• Proficiency in industry-standard tools such as Abaqus, Nastran, OptiStruct, HyperWorks, and nCode.
• Knowledge of vehicle to component validation and testing requirements is advantageous.
• Proven ability to lead technical workstreams, influence stakeholders, and deliver under demanding programme timelines.
