Purpose of Role
  • Core principles - To ensure parts operations inventory approach, process and execution both McLaren Aftersales and our 4PL partner is focussed on Customer Service and Long-Term Profitability
  • Inventory Optimisation - To ensure Parts Operations inventory planning and delivery from supplier to warehouse through the network is optimised, controlled, healthy, and visible to all key stakeholders
  • Support Operations & Logistics Development - To proactively analyse, support and develop new inventory and operational solutions to improve outcome with a Continuous Improvement mindset
  • Inventory Forecasting & Improvement Planning – Analyse and simulate both operational and financial inventory movements and their impact on service levels and identify and deliver ongoing improvement
  • Identify trends and propose improvement plans to key stakeholders to ensure core process drives the correct service levels, profitability, and inventory outcomes
Principal Accountabilities
  • Inventory Optimisation – this includes proactive planning, reporting, analysis, and improvement action where necessary
  • Review and presentation for approval proposals around inventory returns from Retailers or one-off purchases from slow moving sources and internal customers
  • Project work around inventory impacting activity including supporting the Operational and Commercial teams on one off forecasting and calculations to form part of Last Time or Life Time buy
  • Inventory & Logistic Development – to drive and support various development, projects and process improvement activity, particularly where there is an inventory impact. This can be varied, and specific projects will be agreed from time to time. Project scope, timescales and outcomes will be agreed in advance, however proactive optimisation and continuous improvement is key
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Strong Inventory Control and Operational experience
    • Including detailed knowledge of financial reporting and operational impact of standard logistic and inventory processes, valuation and asset management etc Degree or Diploma education preferable
  • Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Must be able to work independently and have excellent communication skills at all levels
  • IT skills, advanced MS Office skills is essential (Excel, Word and Power-point)
  • Experience of using SAP highly advantageous
  • Able to engage with and influence stakeholders
