As the Central Sales & Marketing Category Lead you will be responsible for the ongoing support of HR, Legal & Finance within McLaren. You will be responsible for the category’s sourcing strategy and the execution of strategic and complex sourcing projects through the full procurement lifecycle.
General
- Identify commercial opportunities and sourcing strategies within (and where appropriate across) McLaren Automotive in the Sales & Marketing expenditure categories.
- Key subcategories include Events, Digital, Creative, Production, Social, PR, Training & Sales Facilitation among other things.
- Support the Procurement team in the delivery of agreed strategic objectives in line with the Sales & Marketing strategies and relevant Business Plans.
- To provide expertise across the Sales & Marketing sourcing categories, including market knowledge and sourcing best practice.
- Define and deliver the category plan, with support of Manager and identify appropriate sourcing strategies which generate benefits and achieve financial savings whilst mitigating risk for McLaren.
- Approver purchase requisitions for the categories.
- To apply knowledge of contracts and employment law to implement appropriate contractual safeguards, SLAs and other operational measures to ensure vendors are incentivised to deliver a robust service.
- Provide day to day guidance as support for the business and relevant stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the Sales & Marketing Category Lead for the Regions.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as liaison between McLaren and our vendors, ensuring requirements and concerns are fully understood and ensure these are fed back during the appropriate stages to the vendors.
- Confidently and competently negotiate with vendors at a high level ensuring best value and quality of service is maintained.
- Work collaboratively with all internal stakeholders (Sales & Marketing) throughout sourcing projects to ensure continued alignment of objectives.
Process
- Ensure consistent procurement processes are undertaken to select vendors that will provide optimum value and delivery for McLaren. This will include as appropriate, assessment of vendor risk, objective management of evaluation processes, negotiation and contract execution.
- To setup and execute strategic and/or complex sourcing projects through the full procurement lifecycle, including (senior) stakeholder management.
- To apply knowledge of contractual terms and conditions ensuring commercially attractive terms are agreed and contract spend remains in budget while mitigating risk in such terms.
Knowledge
- Have a good understanding of current agency landscape and commercial models.
- Aware of new developments in technology and other common challenges associated with the categories.
- Commercial awareness with an ability to assess risk in the appropriate context.
Skills
- Well-developed negotiation skills in a Marketing Services category to deliver value underpinned by detailed contract knowledge, including complex service scope and SLAs.
- Adept at handling multiple projects and contracts concurrently.
- Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations and support in the development of negotiation strategies for large and complex projects and contracts.
- The ability to combine professional project management and procurement skills on large scale projects.
- Experience in drafting, reviewing and controlling contractual documentation.
- Excellent High level of communication skills to support cross-departmental and stakeholder liaison.
Experience
- Experience in setting up category plans and/or sourcing strategies in a matrix organisation environment which focusses on both short-term value and risk mitigation as well as long term commercial opportunities
- Strong experience of planning, running and executing complex sourcing process end to end.
- Demonstrated, previous experience delivering cost savings and spend rationalisation.
- Able to demonstrate a high level of independence and initiative
