Purpose of Role

The Power Platform Engineer is responsible for administering and maintaining the Microsoft Power Platform estate that underpins McLaren’s data-driven insights. The role will also ensure that this estate is well suitably governed, secure, performant, and stable for operational use. 

Principal Accountabilities

1 – Governance

  • Leading the Governance of various Power Platform developments and ensuring that all Power Platform developments meet the performance and development standards 
  • Develop, guide, and mentor a community of excellence team made up of citizen developers with the technical architecture and best practices.
  • Evangelize the platform by conducting workshops, hackathons, and overview sessions to educate business users about “Art of the Possible” with Microsoft low code / no-code solutions.
  • Have oversight of all Business important/critical Power Platform developments

 

2 –Development & Adoption

  • Driving the adoption of PowerApps, Power Automate, and Power BI usage within McLaren Automotive as the Power Platform Subject Matter Expert.
  • Understand customer requirements and challenges and recommend suitable and optimal technology solutions.
  • Providing subject matter expertise with a selection of best of the breed Azure services such as Logic Apps Functions & API (Application Programming Interface) Management etc in conjunction with PowerApps and Power Automate.
  • Designing frameworks and reusable components for enterprise adoption of Power Platform.

3 –Platform
  • Ownership of the Power Platforms environments that support the data-driven insights in use at McLaren Automotive built upon McLaren Azure Data architecture
  • Ensure the Power Platform environments are working within defined parameters i.e., workload.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Deep understanding of the Microsoft Power Platform including Power Automate
  • Proven understanding of data governance, standards, best practice and management processes and how to apply them in data platforms
  • Proven understanding of data sources and data and analytics requirements and typical SLAs associated to data provisioning and consumption at enterprise scale
Personal Attributes
  • Good knowledge and understanding of modern development methodologies (agile using scrum and/or Kanban)
  • Strong stakeholder management and ability to lead and work with multiple product trams with the competing priorities
  • An interest in future technology and industry trends to inspire and influence strategies and challenge the ‘norm’
  • Be dependable, trustworthy, motivated, engaging, inspiring and a team player.
  • Customer focused approach with good communication and prioritisation skills, ability to challenge constructively and influence stakeholders.
