Purpose of Role

You will actively support the specification, design, engineering & delivery of vehicle control systems including Battery Management Systems, DC/DC converter, Chargers, inverter and any other ECUs within the Hybrid and EV Systems. Interactions with Powertrain CAE team, Functional Safety (ISO 26262) and Vehicle Development are also part of the role.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Control system requirements engineering for Electric Drive / Hybrid Components
  • Control system requirements verification and base calibration via MiL and SiL simulation
  • Control issues root cause analysis
  • Control systems integration
  • Supplier management
  • On-vehicle data retrieval and analysis
  • Generating control system requirements
  • Supporting control systems delivery to all vehicle projects– to specification, on time and on budget. 
  • Working with the Functional Safety experts to deliver ISO 26262 requirements 
  • Working with the Powertrain CAE group to develop Model-in-the-Loop systems and support requirement verification.
  • Supporting external and internal project status reviews
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • Proficiency in Control Systems Engineering, Simulation modelling in MATLAB/Simulink 
  • Technical knowledge of BMS and power electronics (DCDC, Inverter, HV charger) control desirable
  • Embedded systems knowledge
  • HiL (Hardware in the Loop) and Rig systems testing awareness desirable.
  • Controls, Electrical/Electronic Engineering Degree, MSc or PhD
